The Vice President of Finance, Medical Group and Population Health (“VP”) serves as the financial leader and is responsible for supporting Valley Health Medical Group and organizational activities associated with population health and insurance product development. This includes financial leadership related to hospital-based practices including Rural Health Clinics, leased practices, and other aligned physician practices. The VP will also be responsible for providing financial leadership and insuring there is an appropriate financial support system to lead and monitor the performance of organizational population health initiatives and the performance of its insurance programs. The VP will lead setting and executing plans to meet or exceed overall financial goals for these business units. The VP will also provide leadership in identifying and developing necessary tools for leadership to manage related operations. The VP will be accountable for annual budgetary process and regular analysis of on-going operations relative to budget. Provides onsite support for preparing monthly financial statements and reports, as well as reviewing cost reports and other state required financial reporting. Accountable for strategic business development including active participation in all business planning and oversight of new business analysis, including the ability to translate complicated data into useable information.
Extensive experience in successfully monitoring revenue cycle for a multi-specialty medical group, as well as experience in monitoring daily practice operations, including but not limited to scheduling, staffing, cash collections, etc. Effective development and management of provider compensation plans, to align with organizational priorities. Assure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements. Serve on policy making and planning committees.
Matrix reporting relationship which includes a direct reporting relationship to the Chief Financial Officer and dotted line reporting to the Sr VP, Chief Physician Executive and President of Valley Physician Enterprises; provides day to day operations and support to the Valley Health Medical Group Director of Operations, Chief Population Health and Community Health Officer, and Chief Medical Information Officer.
Education
Master's Degree in Accounting, Business or Healthcare or CPA required.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Health care required.
Experience
5 years of experience in healthcare management required.
10 years of business experience (cross-functional) required.
5 years of physician practice medical group experience required.
5 years of urgent care experience preferred.
Multispecialty medical group experience required.
Experience with Rural Health Clinics and/or Federally Qualified Health Centers preferred Experience with Risk based contracts, ACO, population health.
Progressively responsible accounting/finance positions operating at a senior level in a mid to large healthcare system or medical group required.
Requires previous work experience demonstrating an exceptional level of interpersonal skills necessary in order to deal effectively in delicate, sensitive and/or complex situations with a wide variety of influential internal and external personnel and make presentations before groups including regulatory agencies.
Requires previous work experience demonstrating a high level of problem-solving skills and strong analytical skills.
Requires previous work experience demonstrating strong management and decision-making skills necessary in order to develop and implement new financial systems, techniques and/or procedures; determine needs for capital equipment, personnel, expense and revenue budgets; and prepare special and recurring reports and analyses
Certification & Licensures
CPA preferred
