Red Hat is seeking a new leader for Red Hat Research, ideally based in the Boston metro area, and reporting to the Vice President, Office of the CTO. This is a Director-level role. The ideal candidate will have a broad technology, management and engineering leadership background, combined with a proven track record of collaborative work with academic institutions and other research organizations.
What you will do
Organizationally, Red Hat Research is responsible for:
Leveraging our Boston University Collaboratory partnership to establish the Red Hat platform as the worldwide standard for academic research and innovation
Supporting our product teams in experimenting and gathering user feedback in these deployments
Driving strategic university partnerships and collaborating with them on shared research areas
Promoting successful outcomes and creating an intern pipeline from those universities into Red Hat
What you will bring
Experience leading a research organization with several layers of management and multiple research and platform engineering teams
Experience managing partnerships and grants with universities and academic institutions
Experience defining technology strategy
Experience partnering with product management and product engineering teams
Experience being a spokesperson with analysts and press
10+ years of experience working in the software industry preferably on open source software
Experience managing teams that host infrastructure for research
Excellent writing and verbal communications skills targeting both engineering and executive themes from engineering to executive
Excellent collaboration and people skills
The salary range for this position is $221,260 - $376,120. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.
