The Administrative Assistant role is integral to the operations of the Brown School Dean’s office. This position serves as the lead receptionist greeting visitors to the Dean’s office, as well as fielding phone calls and managing a portion of the email coming into the School. The Administrative Assistant supports the Chief of Staff with meeting and event planning/execution, as well as development of Powerpoint and Excel resources.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a first point of contact for visitors to the Dean’s Office. Greet guests warmly, assist visitors with wayfinding.  Field phone calls to the Dean’s Office and triage email sent to shared school accounts.
  • Provide administrative support to Chief of Staff, which may include calendar management, telephone support, appointment scheduling, materials and presentation development, and mail processing.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of meetings and events. Responsibilities may include coordinating print and/or email invitations, coordinating with vendors, managing RSVP lists, creating name tags, setting up room configurations, coordinating a/v services, and taking meeting minutes.
  • Serve as reliable resource for team in managing special projects, which may include preparing, editing, and proofreading documents; preparation of general correspondence; data management, manipulation, and formatting; and managing department supplies and equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range

$19.29 - $29.91 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
