Director, UAS Maintenance

DroneUp is seeking a Director of Maintenance (DOM) to develop maintenance programs and oversee current programs to ensure adherence to company goals. The DOM will be responsible for sourcing, procurement and maintenance management of all aircraft and aircraft components for the company. This role will also be responsible for tracking maintenance records as well as ensuring replacement parts are procured and dispersed to operating locations nationwide.

Responsibilities

• Develop methods and tools to measure maintenance initiatives impact and effectiveness across the organization
• Update the Maintenance Manual and associated documents as new aircraft and procedures are implemented
• Coordinate and participate in standardization reviews, mishap investigations, and review boards
• Work with Safety and Compliance to implement and enforce standards for all maintenance operations
• Work closely with the local training staff to standardize training and procedures
• Provide operation and administrative control over all aviation maintenance programs
• Supervise company aviation maintenance in the performance of duties in accordance with FAA regulations and company policies and procedures
• Identify and manage relationships with vendors
• Ensure company aircraft are airworthy according to regulatory and manufacturer requirements and develop plans for expedient, compliant and safe return to service of aircraft with deficiencies in accordance with contractual requirements, FAA regulations and company policy
• Ensure that all company aviation maintenance records are in proper condition and updated in accordance with federal regulations and company guidelines
• Maintain and produce up-to-date reports for senior leadership on assets, maintenance schedules and supplier relationships as directed
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory and company safety standards and maintains workspace and hangar professionalism, cleanliness and organization at all times
• Supervises, trains and evaluates assigned aviation mechanics
• Ensure subordinate maintenance personnel are satisfactorily trained and perform maintenance and repair of aviation systems and equipment to published standards and policies
• Develop and manage aircraft Minimum Equipment Lists (MEL) as applicable to make sure they are current and approved
• Develop and manage the UAS maintenance budget as part of the flight operations budget in accordance with company policies and procedures
• Ensure company aviation maintenance activities conform to contractual requirements, FAA and company regulations and guidelines at all times
• Assist customers and negotiate maintenance contracts for the company

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree, aviation or business focus
• Strong familiarity with applicable FAA regulations and Part 135 operations
• FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P)
• 5+ years of experience in aviation maintenance
• Three (3) years Part 135 experience as required by FAR 119.71(e) preferred
• Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification
• Strategic thinker and a solutions-oriented leader
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
• Extensive experience in developing and implementing standardized aviation maintenance materials
• Knowledge of aviation maintenance practices sufficient to direct the planning, coordinating and directing of aviation maintenance operations
• UAS and RC experience preferred
• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with subordinates and various officials of public or private entities
• Skill in developing techniques and methodologies to resolve unprecedented problems or situations
• Able to work well under pressure in fast-paced and noisy environment while exercising sound judgment at all times
• Must be able to stand, sit, walk, climb ladders and stairs and be able to successfully manipulate maintenance tools and machinery
• Must be able to read and understand regulatory and instructional materials
• Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
• Able to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with abstract and concrete variables
• Must be able to communicate effectively (reading, writing and speaking) in the English language
• Must know and understand terminology related to the aviation industry
• Must have strong working knowledge of industry and business-related computer software and programs
• Must be able to comfortable handle complicated multiple task simultaneously
