Summary
The Director of Site Services & Commodities will lead and manage indirect procurement strategies across Zoetis’ manufacturing sites, office locations, and distribution centers, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services that support the company's operations.
The principle purpose of the role is to continue to strengthen the organization's Indirect Sourcing influence and expertise across Zoetis sites and lead a unified approach to sourcing Indirect Procurement services that delivers the best value to the business. Key success factors of the role include achieving demonstrable and measurable improvements in Indirect sourcing by reducing costs, improving efficiency, and improving supplier performance.
Scope of the role includes: category strategy management, supplier market research, value analysis (price, quality, quantity, time...), negotiation, vendor selection, buying, risk mitigation, compliance management, supplier relationship management & contract administration.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for Indirect Procurement across Site Services and Commodities Categories (i.e. - Facilities, MRO, Construction Services, Energy, Lab Supplies & Consumables, Food Service, Security Services, Janitorial, Gowning, PPE, Utilities, etc.).
- Act as both an individual contributor and Team Lead for Indirect Procurement Site Leads. Lead and manage a team of procurement professionals (2 to 3) across multiple sites.
- Build deep site-level relationships with key business leaders to develop sourcing strategies that fuel business objectives, including optimizing cost savings, creating efficiency, and enabling growth.
- Lead cross-functional teams to agree on supplier selections based on appropriate decision criteria.
- Work with internal customers to define sourcing strategies, specifications, and contract terms.
- Develop collaborative ways-of-working with other site-based Procurement professionals (i.e. – Direct Procurement, Transportation & Logistics colleagues, etc.).
- Perform Global Category Lead responsibilities for Site Services and Commodities Categories.
- Conduct in-depth market analysis and opportunity assessments.
- Benchmark industry best practices in the assigned spend areas and lead the associated adoption within Zoetis as applicable.
- Development/refinement/adaptation of global category strategy plans for site-level consumption. Ensure category management, strategic sourcing, and supplier management processes are executed timely and effectively to drive continuous improvement in total cost, supplier performance, and service levels for the assigned spend.
- Incorporate and advance Zoetis corporate goals (EHS) into Procurement sourcing strategies.
- Continually evaluate and monitor local market conditions and adjust sourcing strategies accordingly.
- Conduct the sourcing of goods and services necessary for ongoing operations within designated categories.
- Negotiate and execute high value contracts as defined by company guidelines.
- Develop appropriate risk management strategies.
- Facilitate cross-site, cross-functional communications regarding procurement activities.
- Coordinate with other functions and impacted stakeholders to assure timely implementation and compliance with the agreed to sourcing strategies.
- Develop and execute appropriate Supplier Management processes to continuously improve third party performance.
- Develop supplier governance models and execute ongoing Supplier Management activities.
- Support internal customers in the resolution of any supplier related quality or service issues.
- Monitor contracts according to contract management processes.
- Approve Purchase Orders as appropriate.
- Defining procurement key performance indicators (KPIs) for the sites and establish a system for continuous performance monitoring and improvement.
- Report on KPIs and provide regular updates to senior management.
Education & Prior Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent. MBA or higher education is a plus.
- Minimum 10 years professional experience in a Procurement capacity.
- 10+ years’ experience in a large multinational company; pharma or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Ability to drive transformation and act as a change agent in an international, multi-cultural team and organization.
- Strong knowledge of procurement systems/processes/trends.
- Ability to conceptualize complex issues, processes or procedures and reach standardized, best practice solutions.
- Greenbelt, CPM, or PMP designations preferred.
