We are currently searching for a Director, Quality to join the Mission Systems (MiS) Quality Organization and lead the C4I & Autonomous Solutions  portfolio. The technology delivered is vital to keeping our customers safe, connected, and informed.

The scope of this position includes, but is not limited to: Customer Satisfaction, Customer Acceptance (DPPM), SRR (Scrap, Repair, & Rework), Compliance (QMS/Regulatory), and will also possess a direct influence on Supply Quality performance. This leader and his/her organization will serve as the voice of the customer (VOC) and ensure requirements are being realized throughout the life cycle of C4I & Autonomous Solutions products.  

This is a highly visible role that will serve directly with executive leaders in the Mission Systems Program Office, Mission Systems Operations, and Mission Systems Engineering. The role will report directly to the Executive Director of Quality for Mission Systems and will also engage with Collins Aerospace Enterprise Quality leadership.

The Director of Quality’s total organization will consist of leaders and team members mostly strategically located throughout the United States to serve specific C4I & Autonomous Solutions manufacturing locations, program offices, and the Mission Systems supply base.

This is an ONSITE position s located in Cedar Rapids, IA. This position may be eligible for relocation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure 100% QMS compliance across the C4I & Autonomous Solutions portfolio
  • Serve as the quality authority for C4I & Autonomous Solutions  portfolio focal on Quality strategies, performance, and execution
  • Lead a highly functioning Mission Systems Quality organization that is distributed through several manufacturing locations assuring all activity offers a connected result to ultimate Customer Satisfaction and Mission Systems business performance
  • Collaborative development and achievement of fiscal year Quality goals
  • Assure C4I & Autonomous Solutions Quality activity offers a connected result to the goal of 100% Customer Satisfaction and business performance commitments
  • Identify, place, develop, reward, recognize, and promote talent
  • Supports Program/Portfolio Cadence Reviews
  • Leads Product and Process Quality Reviews
  • Reviews and Evaluates Customer Quality Product Requirement
  • Supports Program Management Review
  • Develop, Establish and drive plans to improve customer performance
  • Drives improvement plans to improve Customer Satisfaction (Executes Risk & Mitigation Plans)
  • Develop and lead action plans to address systemic customer issues
  • Manage daily activities of the functional Quality organization, ensuring adequate resources are in place for compliance and that cross-training occurs to maximize Quality staff.
  • Implement and improve the company Quality system in accordance with current Quality standards
  • Act as liaison with external parties, including Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) and regulatory agencies, on matters related to the Quality system.
  • Act as business partner to operations, ensuring the Quality function drives leadership in compliance systems and management.
  • Communicate and advocate key company positions relating to complex or controversial issues in a concise and professional manner to customers, senior leadership, regulators, certification bodies, and employees.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum
