About the role
Summary
The Director of Professional Learning provides leadership and coordination for planning, implementation, and assessment of all aspects of the Fulton County Schools Professional Learning System.
Essential Duties
- Leads Level Up Fulton comprehensive professional learning plan
- Supports school and District improvement priorities through development of teacher, administrator, and staff learning opportunities
- Coordinates with school administrators and other departments to effectively support new teachers to improve instruction in the classroom and increase retention of effective teachers
- Aligns teacher professional learning with teacher evaluation system and school improvement goals to improve teacher effectiveness
- Supports teacher leadership development programs
- Supports the implementation of standards-based instruction in all classrooms through development and implementation of effective professional learning opportunities
- Supports the use of instructional technology tools and processes to improve instruction through effective professional learning opportunities
- Coordinates with District and building administrators, a variety of committees, etc., for the purpose of serving as a liaison and resource, identifying professional learning needs and/or coordinating professional learning services for new teachers and mentors within the District
- Researches a variety of information to develop new programs that meet new teacher/mentor learning needs
- Supports private schools with planning and implementation of professional learning plans in alignment with Title IIa procedures
- Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform duties
- Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator
Required Education
Master’s Degree in EducationCertification/Licensure
Must hold or be eligible for Georgia Teaching CertificationMust hold or be eligible for Georgia Leadership CertificationExperience Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of supervisory and/or administrative experience preferably in education and 3 years of classroom teaching experience required; Prior experience in leading professional learning opportunities, preferably at the school and District level; Experience working within a large complex organization
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Detailed knowledge and experience with standards-based instruction and assessment best practice
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners across multiple disciplines and levels
- Demonstrated knowledge in differentiation and meeting the needs of varied adult learners
- Proven ability to conduct professional development programs and project planning, management, and evaluation
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse audiences
- Ability to plan and implement short and long-range goals and objectives
- Ability to work collaboratively with others in program planning and delivery
- Working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other technology tools
- Excellent presentation and decision-making skills
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
