Job Title: Director, Production Planning & Scheduling

Department/Group: Planning

Location: Philadelphia, PA (fully onsite)

Reports to: Sr. Director, Global Supply Chain Management

FLSA Status: Exempt

PCI is seeking a strategic and experienced Director, Production Planning & Scheduling to lead our production operations efficiently. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in production planning and scheduling, along with exceptional leadership skills to oversee and optimize PCI's manufacturing processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive production plans and schedules that align with business goals and customer demand forecasts.
  • Manage a small team of material handlers to ensure adequate inventory levels of raw materials, components, and finished goods to support production requirements.
  • Lead a team of production planners and schedulers, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback to ensure effective team collaboration and productivity.
  • Collaborate with the warehouse to ensure timely delivery of materials and components and manage inventory levels to minimize stockouts and overstocking.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, procurement, logistics, and sales to coordinate production activities and meet operational targets.
  • Implement best practices in production planning and scheduling to improve efficiency, minimize waste, and reduce lead times.
  • Analyze production data, metrics, and performance indicators to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Collaborate on inventory management processes to optimize stock levels and ensure timely availability of materials and finished products.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and report on production efficiency, adherence to schedules, and overall performance
  • Stay informed about industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements related to production planning and scheduling.
  • Lead the Supply Review Meeting as part of the monthly Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) process- to assess long term capacity requirements, collaborate on efficiency improvement actions, and identify continuous improvement opportunities
  • Knowledge of and adherence to all PCI, cGMP, and GCP policies, procedures, rules.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field and/or 7-10 years related experience and/or training.
  • College Level Mathematical Skills
  • Advanced Computer Skills: Ability to perform the most complex computer tasks and operate various computer programs.                                        
  • Full Professional Proficiency: Ability to speak, read, and write fluently and accurately on all levels pertinent to professional needs.
  • Very High Reasoning: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Be able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in math or diagram form and deal with several abstract/concrete variables.

Preferred:

  • Certifications: APICS (Association for Supply Chain Management) certification or similar is a plus
  • 10-15 years of experience in production planning and scheduling roles, with at least 10 years in a managerial or leadership position
  • Proven track record of successfully leading production planning and scheduling teams in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data, trends, and performance metrics to drive decision-making and process improvements
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and advanced knowledge of production planning software/tools
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
