Position Summary
The Director Operations Strategy and Engineering reports to the Vice President of Operational Planning and Analysis and is responsible for JetBlue’s overall Operations analytics strategy to deliver credible insight and predictive modelling for all Operations long-term planning while supporting “day-of” operations and after analysis. The Director owns the design, development and management of standardized dashboards required for Operations decision-making in partnership with the Resource Planning team and Operations departments’ leadership. In addition, the Director partners closely with the Directors of Schedule Planning, Resource Planning and Continuous Improvement as well as Directors in Network and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to act as one credible voice for all key Operations decision-makers.

Essential Responsibilities
- Develops and oversees an overarching Operations data analysis and predictive modeling strategy to ensure delivery of credible insight for all Operations long-term and “day of” planning
- Supports senior leadership with deep technical analysis ad-hoc requests that require complex analytical techniques
- Designs, develops and manages operations data collection processes that ensure delivery of accurate and efficient operations data that meets all regulatory reporting requirements
- Owns the definition of standard Key Performance Indicator (KPI) metrics for all key data elements related to the Operation
- Conducts internal and external performance benchmarking analyses to inform data-driven decision-making for senior stakeholders
- Develops, manages and optimizes performance dashboards to report out on standard metrics for Operational decision-making
- Partners with IT to identify data warehouse capabilities, systems reporting functionality, and automated “day-of” reporting
- Maintains strong relationships across Operations, Commercial and Finance teams to ensure stakeholder needs across the company are being met
- Responsible for developing the breadth and depth of the talent within Operations Strategy and Analysis by building a strong, diverse, and engaged team to ensure a pipeline of successors
- Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goal achievement
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Research, Data Science, Statistics or a related field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience
- Seven (7) years’ experience in airline operations and/or airline analysis roles
- Five (5) years’ experience in a leadership role managing a team
- Ability to create and present a business case, including simplifying complex analyses to demonstrate valuable insight
- Ability to integrate various Management Information Systems
- Ability to conduct complex historical and real-time statistical analyses for real-time and post operational reporting
