About the role

Build the future of data. Join the Snowflake team.

Snowflake’s new Global Talent Enablement function is on a mission to create boundary-pushing growth opportunities that enable our amazing workforce to meet their full potential – at scale.

To support this charter, a Director of Learning and Development role is being created to build a learning ecosystem that supercharges the development of our executives, line managers, and individual contributors.

This is no ordinary L&D role, though. Our ideal candidate is interested in charting a new path in the arena of employee development, and in leveraging future-state, AI-enabled learning journeys that meet each employee where they are. They will approach the role with curiosity, a hyper-focus on enabling business outcomes, and an enthusiasm for thinking beyond “best practice” in service of our Snowflakes around the globe.

Important note: The Talent Enablement team and our HR partners frequently gather in our Dublin and San Mateo offices for in-person collaboration. All candidates must be flexible to use a hybrid working model and work from one of these offices at least two or three days each week.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Build and Scale:
    • Establish and build out the company's first enterprise learning and executive development program from the ground up.

  3. Partnership:
    • Collaborate closely with HR business partners to understand talent development needs and align learning strategies with business needs.
    • Work in lock-step with our HR Technology team to create integrated talent tools that support employee growth and organizational objectives.
    • Create and maintain alignment between enterprise learning and development activities and function-specific learning teams that reside in the business functions.
  4. Executive Development:
    • Design, implement, and facilitate cutting-edge executive development programs that align with Snowflake’s long term goals.
    • Collaborate with senior leadership to identify development needs and create personalized learning solutions that match our company pace and identity.
    • Provide coaching and mentorship (personally and through vendors) to enhance the leadership capabilities of our senior leaders.
  5. Front Line Manager Enablement:
    • Develop and execute programs that empower front-line managers with the skills and tools they need to manage their business efficiently and lead their people effectively.
    • Create engaging growth initiatives focused on leadership, communication, performance management, and team development.
    • Continuously assess and improve the effectiveness of our management development programs using data-driven insights.
  6. Individual Contributor Learning:
    • Design and implement learning programs that support the growth and development of our individual contributors.
    • Leverage technology to deliver personalized learning experiences that address specific skill gaps and enhance employee performance.
    • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development across the organization.
  7. Needs Analysis:
    • Conduct comprehensive needs assessments to identify skill gaps and development opportunities across the organization.
    • Use data-driven methodologies to prioritize learning initiatives and align them with business goals.
    • Regularly review and update learning programs based on changing business needs and employee feedback.

REQUIREMENTS:
