Snowflake’s new Global Talent Enablement function is on a mission to create boundary-pushing growth opportunities that enable our amazing workforce to meet their full potential – at scale.
To support this charter, a Director of Learning and Development role is being created to build a learning ecosystem that supercharges the development of our executives, line managers, and individual contributors.
This is no ordinary L&D role, though. Our ideal candidate is interested in charting a new path in the arena of employee development, and in leveraging future-state, AI-enabled learning journeys that meet each employee where they are. They will approach the role with curiosity, a hyper-focus on enabling business outcomes, and an enthusiasm for thinking beyond “best practice” in service of our Snowflakes around the globe.
Important note: The Talent Enablement team and our HR partners frequently gather in our Dublin and San Mateo offices for in-person collaboration. All candidates must be flexible to use a hybrid working model and work from one of these offices at least two or three days each week.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build and Scale:
- Establish and build out the company's first enterprise learning and executive development program from the ground up.
- Recruit, onboard, and lead a high-performing team of learning and development professionals.
- Create and implement processes and frameworks to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of learning programs.
- Thought Leadership:
- Lead the HR function to explore and leverage AI-driven tools to create personalized learning paths and enhance individual learning experiences.
- Utilize data and analytics to gain insights into learning needs, program effectiveness, and employee performance.
- Look into the future to use machine learning algorithms that predict future learning trends and skill gaps.
- Continuously explore and adopt new technologies that can improve the scalability and impact of learning programs.
- Partnership:
- Collaborate closely with HR business partners to understand talent development needs and align learning strategies with business needs.
- Work in lock-step with our HR Technology team to create integrated talent tools that support employee growth and organizational objectives.
- Create and maintain alignment between enterprise learning and development activities and function-specific learning teams that reside in the business functions.
- Executive Development:
- Design, implement, and facilitate cutting-edge executive development programs that align with Snowflake’s long term goals.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to identify development needs and create personalized learning solutions that match our company pace and identity.
- Provide coaching and mentorship (personally and through vendors) to enhance the leadership capabilities of our senior leaders.
- Front Line Manager Enablement:
- Develop and execute programs that empower front-line managers with the skills and tools they need to manage their business efficiently and lead their people effectively.
- Create engaging growth initiatives focused on leadership, communication, performance management, and team development.
- Continuously assess and improve the effectiveness of our management development programs using data-driven insights.
- Individual Contributor Learning:
- Design and implement learning programs that support the growth and development of our individual contributors.
- Leverage technology to deliver personalized learning experiences that address specific skill gaps and enhance employee performance.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development across the organization.
- Needs Analysis:
- Conduct comprehensive needs assessments to identify skill gaps and development opportunities across the organization.
- Use data-driven methodologies to prioritize learning initiatives and align them with business goals.
- Regularly review and update learning programs based on changing business needs and employee feedback.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to be on-site in either the San Mateo or Dublin office three days per week.
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in an enablement function,
- At least 7 years proven experience in an L&D leadership role.
- Familiarity (or growing familiarity) with AI-driven learning tools and personalized learning platforms.
