At Nike, you’ll find a culture that values bold ideas, collaboration, and relentless pursuit of excellence. Nike is seeking a pragmatic, engineering-driven Director of Enterprise Architecture to lead and grow a high-impact team responsible for owning the big-picture technology blueprint across Nike’s entire software ecosystem—including SaaS, custom-built, commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS), enterprise business applications, and foundational platforms. In today’s rapidly evolving tech & business landscape, you will drive modernization and simplification efforts with urgency while maintaining a strategic vision. Your mission will be to connect and scale software solutions end-to-end by embedding Gen AI, data, cloud, privacy, and security principles by design. You will drive critical build vs. buy and open-source vs. vendor decisions to ensure technology investments deliver maximum value. This role requires a highly technical, strategic and collaborative leader who will spearhead the evolution of architecture and engineering practices, driving modern patterns and standards that directly impact business outcomes. As a people leader, you will inspire collaboration, foster innovation, and empower your team to deliver secure, scalable, reusable architectures that fuel Nike’s growth. If you’re ready to lead transformative change at one of the world’s most iconic brands, come build the future with us.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team of enterprise architects skilled in enterprise applications, cloud, AI, data, security, platform & infrastructure engineering to accelerate Nike’s technology modernization and simplification initiatives.

  • Build and maintain 3-5 year end-to-end enterprise architecture strategy and roadmap aligned with business goals, focusing on modernization, simplification, scalability, cost optimization, cloud, AI, data hubs, APIs, and platforms.

  • Architect practical, engineering-centric solutions such as microservices, event-driven systems, containerization, API-first designs, and AI-enabled platforms to build connected, reusable, secure, and scalable ecosystems.

  • Perform rigorous evaluation of build vs. buy and open-source vs. vendor software options, balancing technical fit, total cost of ownership, risk, and maintainability to optimize technology portfolios.

  • Embed privacy and security throughout all architectural designs, ensuring compliance with regulations and integrating advanced controls like encryption, authentication, threat modeling, and AI-enhanced defenses.

  • Build, maintain and leverage a comprehensive tech radar and architectural catalog covering SaaS, custom apps, COTS products, business capability maps and enterprise applications to reduce duplication and technical debt.

  • Foster a culture of experimentation, continuous learning, and innovation to build and scale AI capabilities, including platforms, tools, and talent development.

  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly and persuasively to engineers, business leaders, and executives—driving alignment, ownership, and timely decision-making.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

  • You will be partnering cross-functionally with product management, domain engineering, data, AI/ML, infrastructure, security and platform engineering teams to drive alignment on multi-year architectural roadmap and adoption of architecture and engineering best practices, patterns, guardrails and blueprints.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training.

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in enterprise or solution architecture roles, including 5+ years leading and managing architecture & engineering teams in dynamic, large-scale environments, preferably within retail, commerce, or consumer goods industries.
