About the role

Summary

The Graduate Assistant for Student Engagement supports the Associate Director in the development and execution of strategic student programming initiatives. The GA assists with signature campus events such as Homecoming, Community Fest, Aquafresh pool parties, and provides technical and creative support for engagement platforms (Engage/Corq, CampusESP). This role also contributes to family engagement efforts, including coordination of newsletter content and parent/family outreach. The GA plays an essential role in fostering a vibrant, inclusive campus culture by assisting with student leader development and event operations.

Essential Functions

Event Planning and Implementation

  • Assist in planning, organizing, and staffing large-scale programs such as Homecoming, Community Fest, and Aquafresh pool parties. Coordinate logistics, manage timelines, and support day-of-event operations.

Student Government & Commuter Student Support

  • Provide administrative and programmatic support to SGA and Commuter Student Affairs. Help with executive board communications, elections, meeting preparation, and event logistics.

Engagement Platform Support

  • Assist with data entry, event posting, and user support for the Engage and Corq platforms. Maintain accurate student organization records and training materials.

Family Engagement & Communications

  • Support the management of CampusESP and the family newsletter, including collecting content, coordinating with contributors, and scheduling regular communications.

Marketing & Outreach

  • Create and distribute marketing materials for student programs. Help manage social media accounts and promote events across campus channels.

Assessment & Administrative Support

  • Track participation, support survey distribution, compile data for reports, and attend departmental and planning meetings.

Other duties as assigned

  • Support and participate in departmental meetings, assist with orientation, and support ongoing projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any field of study.

  • 1-3 years of work experience is preferred.
