Position Summary
The Shipping Manager is responsible for overseeing all shipping, receiving, and finished goods inventory operations to ensure products are shipped safely, accurately, and on time while meeting customer expectations. This role is responsible for leading the shipping team, maintaining inventory accuracy, coordinating transportation activities, and ensuring compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and applicable DOT regulations.
The Shipping Manager works closely with Sales, Production, Scheduling, Customer Service, and Operations to support efficient material flow and on-time customer deliveries. This position is expected to foster a culture of continuous improvement while maintaining a safe work environment and ensuring assigned areas operate with risk reduced to As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) in support of the company's commitment to Zero Harm—preventing injuries, illnesses, property damage, and environmental impacts.

Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead shipping and receiving personnel, including scheduling daily activities and coordinating coverage during employee absences.
- Ensure all customer orders are processed, loaded, and shipped accurately and on schedule.
- Coordinate daily shipping activities to meet customer delivery requirements while maximizing operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate finished goods inventory and rod by overseeing cycle counts, inventory reconciliation, and participation in physical inventories.
- Monitor inventory accuracy and investigate discrepancies to ensure timely resolution.
- Ensure all shipments comply with DOT regulations, customer specifications, and company shipping requirements.
- Maintain shipping documentation, bills of lading, packing lists, and other required records accurately and timely.
- Collaborate with Sales, Scheduling, Production, and Customer Service to prioritize shipments and address changing customer needs.
- Monitor shipping performance, identify process improvement opportunities, and implement corrective actions to improve productivity and customer service.
- Ensure shipping equipment, forklifts, and related assets are maintained and available for safe operation.
- Promote and enforce all company safety policies and procedures while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Analyze shipping metrics, inventory performance, and operational trends, communicating results and recommendations to management.
Education & Experience
- Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of leadership experience in shipping, warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing operations.
- Equivalent combinations of education and relevant work experience may be considered.
- Strong knowledge of shipping, receiving, inventory control, warehouse operations, and logistics.
- Working knowledge of DOT shipping regulations and transportation requirements.
- Experience managing finished goods inventory and conducting cycle counts and physical inventories.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
