Bring your passion for post-surgical care and the surgical oncology population to help us achieve our mission of making life better for the patients on the 4th floor at Banner Gateway Medical Center. Our 4th floor Med Surg unit is a fast-paced, 31-bed medical-surgical unit, with a patient population comprised of primarily post-operative patients, from advanced cancer removal surgery to laparoscopic weight-loss procedures in the bariatric population. 

As a PCA on our Medical Surgical unit you are responsible for vitals signs, blood glucose checks, weights, ADLs, I&Os, encouraging mobility & incentive spirometer use. You will be answering call lights in conjunction with our nursing team and also have the opportunity to cross train as a Health Unit Coordinator. We are looking for a team player who is ready to work and learn!

This is a full time DAY shift position working three 12-hour shifts per week from 6am-6:30pm. We use a rotating weekends and holidays schedule. You will have the opportunity to utilize our self-scheduling tool for shift coverage and also enjoy an additional 18%-night shift differential and a flat rate $1/hour weekend shift differential when applicable.

Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center Located in Gilbert, Ariz. (the Phoenix Metro area) on the Banner Gateway Campus, the center provides world-class care for oncology patients - both inpatient and outpatient - and has also brought leading oncology programs to the Banner Gateway campus including designation as a Stem Cell Transplant Center of Excellence and comprehensive Head & Neck cancer care. Our capabilities include five linear accelerator vaults, a brachytherapy vault, an advanced diagnostic imaging suite with PET/CT scan, more than 70 infusion bays, a cryopreservation lab and much more. Our inpatient medical oncology unit also incorporates a program that utilizes the electronic surveillance partnership in caring for the patient, where remote nurses have the ability to interact with patients via two-way audio-video to assist the bedside nurse with patient care.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides routine patient care to promote patient comfort and contribute to the overall patient plan of care. This position is responsible for on-going patient data collection and documentation in the medical records and provides a variety of unit support functions which contribute to the overall efficient operation of the nursing unit/department.

CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Provides assistance in activities of daily living and completes necessary tasks to promote patient health, including assisting patients with basic hygiene needs, maintaining an optimum level of mobility and providing assistance with nutritional intake as needed.

2. Collects patient specimens and data, including vital signs, input/output and other delegated measurements in accordance with unit/facility policy and standards of care. Documents objective data and routine aspects of patient care. Assists in the transportation of patient specimens.

3. Recognizes and reports abnormalities and/or changes in the patient’s health
