JOB SUMMARY

The Security Officer I is responsible for patrolling and inspecting company property to guard against theft, fire, vandalism, terrorism and other acts of sabotage or violence. He or she will monitor all access control systems, respond to alarms and other security situations, and conduct regular foot and vehicle patrols. Work schedule is 24/7/365, three shifts, which rotates every six months. Applicants must be able to work all three shifts and weekends to be considered for the position. The incumbent will participate in a 6-week training program upon hire.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

· Patrolling and securing the area

· Monitors CCTV camera footage

· Protecting the company’s assets

· Responding to alarms and emergencies

· Communicating any irregularities with management

· Keeping an incident report record

· Checking visitors in and out of the area

· Escorting visitors around the premises

· Ensuring compliance with government regulations

· Must report any unsafe acts or conditions immediately to their supervisor

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

· Special projects and other duties as assigned

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • One year of experience in security, corrections or law enforcement preferred; or equivalent combination of education and      experience.  U.S. Military Veterans.

     

SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be eligible to obtain and/or maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance commensurate with the level of facility clearance
  • Must act with the highest level of integrity and ethical standards throughout all areas of internal and external business activity
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Tennessee Armed Security Officer License
  • Possess a working knowledge of the principles and practices of security management, security preventative practices, and  related legal responsibilities
  • Proficiency with MS Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication; verbal and written, presentation skills are a plus
  • Must be able to interface effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • A thorough and keen attention to detail
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Eligible to possess explosives under the Safe Explosives Act of 2003 (as amended) as required by the Bureau of Alcohol,  Tobacco and Firearms (ATF)  
  • Willing to work in an environment that requires  a “Safety First” attitude. Must obey all Safety, Health & Environmental rules/regulations prescribed by regulatory agencies that are incorporated into company policy
  • Ability to read and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)

PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to handle energetic and non-energetic material

· The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl

· The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
