Position Summary:

The Director, Safety, Security and Environment PMO is responsible for the oversight, management and leadership of the Program Management Office and helping develop the strategy of the Safety, Security and Environment (SSE) department. Responsible for developing and executing the short- and long-term strategy, planning, performance measurements, KPIs and financial oversight of all operational and capital aspects related to SSE. This position will have direct oversight of the SESH board of directors quarterly committee preparation, including but not limited to data collection, content creation and coordination with the core committee members (EC and OC members).

 

The Director, SSE PMO, will drive the monthly EC KPI performance meeting, collaborate with SSE/GMO management on content creation and data collection.

 

The Director, SSE PMO will drive and support the respectful heads of SSE divisions SSE with Business Analytics & Continuous Improvement, lead the KPI and AOP process as well as the Digitalization of the teams.

 

The Director, SSE PMO will work alongside the SVP of SSE, representing RCG to third parties (vendors, Classification Societies, Flag State, Industry Partners etc.)

 

This role reports directly to Senior Vice President of SSE. However, will report on all Program Management initiatives, occurrences, and decisions to the respectful heads of SSE divisions AVP Security, AVP Maritime Safety and Director Environmental Stewardship and work in collaboration with the Shared Services and Marine Operations strategy teams on items such as KPIs and brand performance initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides insights and support for development of RCGs regulatory carbon reporting capabilities. Including RCG Carbon Modeling program, MRV and DCS reporting and associated portfolio of systems and tools associated with GHG/Carbon accounting such as, web applications, dashboards, databases, and others.
  • Assist with the development of annual operating plan detailing SSE strategy, create and lead SSE Continuous Improvement Initiatives with the division heads.
  • Manage and lead SSE PMO in the strategic and operational support of the Shared Services Operations and Brand Marine Operations initiatives relevant to SSE.
  • Develop, implement, and manage SSE Digitalization Strategy to expand business analysis capabilities of the departments operations and drive data driven decision making.
  • Develop implement and maintain the SSE Analytics Strategy, including Performance Management, KPI, Process Improvement, and special safety and operational efficiency studies, workshops, and initiatives to further support the SSE’s vision.
  • Lead, coordinate, edit, assemble, and prepare the monthly Operating Committee update brief.
  • Lead, coordinate, edit, assemble, and prepare the monthly Brand Performance update brief.
  • Lead, coordinate, edit, assemble, and prepare the quarterly Board of Directors book.
  • Work closely with Classification Societies on new and innovative solutions to improving safety, security, and environment.
  • Prioritize projects and day to day operations and utilize department staff in the most efficient way possible.
  • Investigate and asses existing and innovative technologies to increase safety, security and environment and create efficiencies across the corporation.
  • Follow-up on incidents as assigned, investigate, evaluate, and implement corrective actions, procedures, changes as needed.
  • Develop and implement strategy to bring SSE Project Management practices to PMI standards, 
  • Manages and participates in the study of operational needs and current operational performance both afloat and ashore to determine optimal working procedures and systems, and to identify areas for improvement and efficiency on assigned projects or of selected resources.
  • Facilitates communication between internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate communication, project execution, performance management and ensure cohesion with the brands.
  • The position requires travel to and from ships, and /or vendor facilities (<= 10%).
  • Remains current with industry trends, especially as related to contemporary management techniques.
  • Consults with all RCG brand operational leaders on the implementation of SSE protocols for the safe return to and continual operation of the fleet.
