TechniBlend is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to join our Engineering Team. This role is responsible for the design and specification of the electrical and controls systems on TechniBlend projects and initiatives.

The Senior Controls Engineer for TechniBlend employs analytical and problem-solving skills to assist in the design of comprehensive electrical controls systems for automated food & beverage processing & blending equipment. The role is responsible for aiding in the overall design of the system including control panels and field devices, schematics detailing, and programming PLC, HMI and VFDs in accordance with industry and client guidelines. The position reports to the Director Of Engineering and is located in our Waukesha, WI office. 

Are you passionate about this work?

    • Design, implement, and support PLC and HMI control systems for food & beverage processing & blending equipment.
    • Detail electrical schematics, Bill of Materials, process flow diagrams, panel layouts, termination diagrams, and field wiring pull schedules in accordance with NEC, NFPA and UL specifications
    • Prepare supporting documentation including functional narratives, manuals, performance metrics, and startup procedures.
    • Ability to perform in-house functional testing in a test environment, customer functional acceptance testing, and onsite acceptance testing at customers facilities with travel up to 25%. (Primarily North America with some International) including training maintenance and operations personnel in running and maintaining our solutions.
    • Work with fellow engineering teams and support production and service personnel.
    • Develop a functional understanding of our products, systems, and solutions.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to control systems, both independently and in collaboration with other engineering and service teams.
    • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering their professional growth and development.
    • Participate in cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives related to control systems and automation processes.

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or similar discipline.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in control systems engineering, preferably in an Food and Beverage process industry.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar platforms) and HMI development (Allen-Bradley, Ignition, or similar platforms).
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, IO Link, Asi, etc.
  • Strong understanding of control system theory, including PID control, motion control, and feedback mechanisms.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware/software integration and troubleshooting of control systems.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, which include presentation skills.
  • Proven leadership abilities, with a track record of successfully leading and mentoring engineering teams.
