We are currently seeking a Manager of Pre & Post Operative Surgery, who assess, direct and evaluate wholistic nursing practice on a 24-hour basis and to support the development of professional nurses and other Associates functioning within the respective patient care area. To coordinate the departmental operations and to achieve optimal quality, satisfaction and financial outcomes via collaboration with physicians and other health care disciplines. To develop Associates to their fullest potential by focusing on education and mentoring plans with to achieve optimal retention and succession planning outcomes. The Manager of this area provides leadership for the Pre anesthesia preparation, ensuring proactive and the safest Pre and Post- Operative care for all patients receiving local, MAC or general anesthesia within the hospital; inclusive of discharge planning.
Major Responsibilities:
Achievement of synergistic outcomes through a team approach to the management of perioperative services.
Provide information and problem-solving skills within respective area of process ownership (i.e., staff operations, clinical continuity and outcomes).
Promote a customer-driven culture through team strategies anchored in continuous quality improvement; following Advocate Experience strategies and Studer principles.
Operationalize team cohesiveness when working with all staff members who provide perioperative services by practicing Advocate Behaviors of Excellence, positive role-modeling, coaching, and mentoring.
Will establish team priorities and goals based on objectives, goals, tactics and strategies of the department, synergistic with the organization and Advocate KRA goals.
Ownership of processes affecting clinical continuity, patient care outcomes, and staff education within and across all clinical surgical patient care areas.
Perform ongoing assessment of clinical processes and their impact on patient, surgeon, and associate satisfaction.
Serve as the liaison to other departments and units regarding issues of perioperative continuity and clinical effectiveness and efficiency by formal and informal interaction.
Will create associate teams to review opportunity to increase efficiency and safety of clinical processes across each clinical area.
Promotion of own professional development within the areas of leadership, teamwork, clinical continuity and outcomes based on education, information and feedback.
Will demonstrate effective communication skills to establish and foster team relationships which promote outcomes that improve and enhance surgical services.
Utilize peer review process, developmental planning, annual goal setting, and performance review mechanism target and document individual progress on at least an annual basis.
Interact with peers within and across structural boundaries to promote professional development.
Attend at least one external educational session that promotes leadership expertise in the area of perioperative clinical continuity and outcomes.
Maintain a current membership in at least one professional organization.
Demonstrate actions in stressful, critical or difficult situation that exemplifies a professional and competent demeanor.
