Position Overview:

As our Facilities Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for supporting facility operations by repairing, installing, and maintaining the buildings systems and equipment.

 

Location:

On-site in Lynchburg, VA at the Advanced Technologies Office

 

Your Day to Day as a Facilities Maintenance Technician:

• Perform installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of building HVAC systems and controls.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system issues to ensure reliable facility operation.
• Lead or support small facility modification projects, including HVAC, electrical, or plumbing scope, as qualified.
• Interpret schematics, construction drawings, and technical manuals to execute maintenance and repair tasks accurately.
• Maintain HVAC and utility systems serving laboratories, offices, and production areas in compliance with applicable codes.
• Support general facilities maintenance activities including mechanical system upkeep, equipment relocation, and grounds support.
• Operate forklifts, lifts, and other maintenance equipment as needed.
• Occasional off-hours or weekend coverage to support critical facility operations.

 

Required Qualifications:

• A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• A minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience is required. A degree may substitute for experience.
• EPA 608 refrigeration certification is highly desired. If not certified, the candidate must be willing and able to obtain certification. 
• Must demonstrate strong skills in HVAC commissioning and controls troubleshooting.
• Must be proficient with interpreting blueprints and technical documentation.
• Must be comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
• Must be highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
