Clinical Research Coordinator (Dr Elahi's Lab) - Neurology

The Elahi Lab is located at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Upper East Campus, Department of Neurology. Our lab is affiliated with the Friedman Brain Institute, the Ronald M. Loeb Center for Alzheimer’s Disease investigates, Department of Neuroscience, and the Department of Pathology, Molecular and Cell-Based Medicine. The Elahi lab uses multi-modal approaches to uncover the role of vascular cells and blood-brain barrier dysfunction in brain aging and neurodegenerative disease. With a focus on translational research, our team has established a multi-site collaborative network for discovery of therapeutics for genetic vascular neurodegenerative disorders. The main genetic vasculopathy the lab is working on is CADASIL (cerebral amyloid angiopathy subcortical infarcts and leukoencephalopathy). 

Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), the Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) will serve as a liaison between research participants and other faculty/study staff members to perform duties related to the support and coordination of clinical research studies.

The CRC will be responsible for support and coordination of various clinical research study components, including:

• Study activation 
• Participant recruitment, scheduling, and testing
• Research and regulatory protocol management
• Communication with all elements of a multi-level research network, interacting with sponsoring agencies and compliance and regulatory groups such as the Institutional Review Board (IRB), and other sponsor monitors 
• Study coordination and operation, including scheduling of various exams and assessments for both in-person and remote participants
• Discrete and professional patient interaction
• Data collection and data management.
• Coordination of clinical research with biomarker studies

• Bachelors degree in science or related field preferred or a combination of relevant research experience and education
• 0-2 years of research/human subjects experience
• Spanish language fluency
• Experience working closely with patients and their families
• Experience with/Coursework in neuroscience or neurodegenerative diseases 
• Knowledge of Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocols, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) 
• Scientific writing experience, as demonstrated in previous research abstracts and/or publications 
• Proficiency in data analyses software (SPSS, Stata, MatLab)
• Training/experience in the conduct of clinical research trials in an academic research environment
