Under the direction of the Assistant Director for Clinical Development, the Nurse Manager supports Quality & Value Based Initiatives, Clinical Access & Triage and is the principal trainer for Medical Assistants at the Howard University Faculty Practice Plan.  

 

Primary Duties  

  • Train medical assistants on in-take and pre-visit planning workflows  

  • Ensure medical assistants complete required training to achieve CPR, BLS and National Accreditation, either RMA, NHA or AAMA  

  • Document rapid responses in outpatient clinics & hospital based clinics, in FPP quality management system.  

  • Audit patient charts for Value Based Program compliance and HEDIS measures compliance.  

  • Serve as Co-Chair for Chief Medical Officer’s Quality Committee  

  • Work with Access Center Nurses and Assistant Director for Patient Access to implement red/yellow/green triage matrix 

  • Work with Practice Managers/Supervisors and Medical Directors to develop division specific pre-visit planning work flows.  

  • Coordinator for medication refill lines 

  • Work with Access Center Nurse to ensure referral management process is followed.  

  • Other duties as assigned  
     

Experience  

  • Minimum three years of experience as an ambulatory nurse, charge nurse, preceptor, quality improvement champion or other related leadership experience.  

  • Minimum one year experience working in an Academic Health System.

Additional Requirements  

  • Demonstrated knowledge of quality improvement, clinical care delivery processes, staffing, & budgeting.  

  • Knowledge of Nursing Practice Act, The Joint Commission & other federal, state, & local regulatory requirements.  

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.  

  • Demonstrated commitment to providing an exceptional patient experience
