About The Job
We are seeking a skilled and experienced DevOps Engineer to join our TechOps team. We operate a mostly Python stack that is 100% deployed in AWS. We balance improving our infrastructure with supporting developers and data engineering in continuously implementing new functionality and products. Additionally we focus on improving the observability, resilience, and standardization of our infrastructure.
In this role, you will work collaboratively with developers to deploy and operate our systems, help automate and streamline our operations and processes, and develop and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring and operations.
We are a 100% remote team, composed mostly of US based team members. Currently we are limiting new hires to US based with authorization to work.
Responsibilities & Expectations

- Day-to-day support for developer teams and performance monitoring of production/QA infrastructure and systems
- Troubleshooting critical production/QA issues across platforms and applications
- Building and maintaining tools, services, and automation associated with deployment and operations platform
- Ensure stable infrastructure through monitoring and proactive maintenance
- Scale existing technologies (or promote new ones) to support product initiatives
- Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools
- Create and Maintain CI/CD pipelines across multiple environments
- Participate in on-call rotation for 1 week/month
- Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources in an effective and timely manner, and demonstrating respect for others.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications & Credentials
- 5+ years of professional experience in Linux administration, managing AWS resources with Terraform, developing CI/CD and server orchestration pipelines, python scripting, bash scripting, and monitoring.
Hard/Technical Skills
You are an expert in:
- Cloud-based production systems at scale
- Amazon Web Services (EC2, IAM, VPC, S3, etc.)
- Production experience running workloads in containerized environments, specifically Docker and AWS ECS
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, like Terraform and Ansible
- Linux and managing AWS infrastructure through the AWS CLI
- Executing and maintaining operations according to DevOps principles and practices
You have experience with:
- Working in a Python and JavaScript-centric codebase and are familiar with their related best-practices
- Kubernetes and AWS EKS
- Monitoring tools, like Datadog or Prometheus
- Bash and Python scripting as a part of server-side automation
- Continuous integration tools, like Jenkins or Concourse
- SQL and database technologies, like MySQL and Postgres
- Experience maintaining logging, monitoring, and alerting capabilities using tools like Grafana, New Relic, Kibana and Datadog.
The ideal candidate would also have:
- A working knowledge of modern software practices and technologies such as Agile methodologies
- Experience with AWS Well-Architected principles
