The HR Business Partner (HRBP) reports to the VP of HR and is responsible for supporting defined elements of the Irby Utilities team to understand its business strategy and to identify opportunities to increase organizational effectiveness and productivity in HR-related capacities. This role will develop and execute workforce strategies and activities in concert with internal HR resources enabling growth, innovation, and overall organizational effectiveness. This role will also drive corporate-led initiatives with field teams, communicating how these programs fit in with the overall business and HR strategy, with particular focus on Talent Management and Development.
The work location for this role is remote, supporting operations in the Pacific, Mountain, and Central time zones, with expected travel requirements up to 20%.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Achieves high-resolution working knowledge of Irby’s various sales and operations roles, personnel at all levels, and overall business strategy.
- Communicates effectively at the executive and local level, collaborating across job categories and geographies while working with HR group and business leaders across the organization.
- Analyzes HR trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.
- Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
- Works within Talent Acquisition to support the drive for top talent while implementing best practices for Recruiting, Onboarding, Compensation, Workforce Planning, Organizational Development, and Change Management.
- Conducts and/or facilitates training on HR-related topics such as performance management, leadership, interviewing, HR policies, etc.
- Collaborates with corporate teams to strategize and develop successful Training and Development initiatives, including communication, implementation, and follow-up with the field.
- Provides ongoing support of Irby’s Emerging Professionals Program.
- Serves as a subject matter-expert in HR-Related systems, such as the Applicant Tracking System, Payroll and Benefits System, and Core HR system.
- Supports management in investigating and resolving associate concerns, questions, and other employee-relations related matters.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- 4+ years strategic HR Generalist or Business Partner experience.
- Proficient MS Office skills, particularly Excel and Outlook.
- A working knowledge of state and federal employment laws.
- Time management and organizational skills necessary to manage multiple projects, appropriately prioritize workload, plan for resources to meet deadlines and goals, and work independently in responding to day-to-day functional needs.
- Strong verbal communication, written communication, and presentation skills necessary to explain complex and/or confidential information to all levels of management.
- Knowledge of the methods and procedures used in collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting data.
- Knowledge of traditional and modern training methods, tools, and techniques, as well as content development.
- Willingness to travel up to 20%.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience providing HR consultation and partnership to business unit executives and senior leaders.
- Strong business acumen, HR and Organization Development expertise with proficiency in multiple disciplines within HR.
- Working knowledge and experience pertaining to California-specific HR practices.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree.
