Summary/Objective

Plan, implement, administer, and maintain information technology infrastructure and network processes, equipment, platforms, and/or applications.

Essential Job Duties

  • Provide professional installation, administration and maintenance on various information technology infrastructure platforms, equipment or applications such as VoIP and telephony, servers, email and instant messaging systems, or data connectivity solutions.
  • Mitigate, assess, respond to and remediate security incidents and vulnerabilities.
  • Provide leadership, consultation and training as needed for coworkers, consultants, and stakeholders.
  • Respond to and resolve system or employee repair and work requests. Respond to stakeholder requests via phone, email, instant message, Help Desk ticket, and face-to-face communication.  
  • On a rotation, for a one-week period, carry an on-call smartphone and respond to critical system outages across the agency 24-hours-a-day.
  • Establish protocols and policies for infrastructure use and privileges.
  • Maintain data storage, backup, and classifications systems, as well as options for future expansions.
  • Implement and maintain the agency’s disaster recovery equipment, connectivity, data center, and standards to ensure continuity of critical agency operations.
  • Implement and maintain integration of agency infrastructure systems with Internet-hosted (“cloud”) systems.
  • Research and recommend procurement and budget items with the goal of efficient utilization of taxpayer funding.

Ancillary Job Duties

  • Establish and maintain a professional working relationship with customers. Initiates and implements work plans necessary to enable Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) business.
  • Occasional travel as required.
  • Attend project, vendor, security, department, and infrastructure meetings.
  • Participate in MDC efforts with other divisions.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business, Mathematics or closely related field.
  • At least five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience or similar experience in servers or telecommunications area supporting personal servers, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience or similar experience in local area networks, wide area networks, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience or similar experience in security, application development or information management, a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must maintain a valid, current driver’s license.
  • May require specific certifications, based on infrastructure focused on.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to use standard business software (spreadsheet and word processing) and project management software with traditional and Agile methodology.
  • Knowledge of specific information technology application or systems infrastructure based on focus, such as video conference, VoIP, Cisco products, etc.
  • Ability to develop new insights into situations and apply innovative solutions that make improvements.
  • Ability to keep focused on understanding, anticipating and responding to the needs of customers.
  • Ability to administer financial resources in a manner which instills public trust and accomplishes the Department’s mission.
  • Ability to accept change and new information and cope with job pressure and stress.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and act quickly and decisively on the determined course of action.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with members of all types of groups, Department staff and the general public.
