Job Summary:

The Integrated Solutions Modeling and Architecture (ISMA) directorate is composed of an energetic multi-disciplinary team of over 300 engineers working collaboratively with internal and external customers and programs to provide mission level modeling & simulation of sensing & effects capabilities from seabed to space, multi-level operations analysis, integrated system of systems architectures, and operational analysis. We are in the front end of the business pushing the boundaries of innovation and creativity to establish next-generation mission solutions from system-level up to campaign-level.

This position is an onsite role.

As an Intern:

  • You will contribute your knowledge of engineering practices and problem-solving in the field of modeling and simulation to analyze work across a wide range of intriguing computational problems related to space-based systems and satellites.

  • You will support, contribute, and collaborate in a team environment, receiving inputs from the program or team experts, and work on diverse projects, determining and developing approaches and solutions.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be in Junior, Senior, or Post Graduate standing level by the start of Summer 2024

  • Pursuing a BS or MS in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)

  • Minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Specific majors: Aerospace Engineering, Astronautical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related STEM discipline

  • Knowledge of data analysis, modeling and simulation, statistics, and various computational techniques for complex multi-variable problems.

  • Knowledge of STK, MATLAB, or Python

  • Quick learner and motivated

  • Specific areas of knowledge:

    • Orbital mechanics/astrodynamics and satellite constellation design

    • Physics constraints and environmental force modeling

    • Numerical computing environments such as MATLAB and/or scripting languages such as Python

    • Optical systems (EOIR), sensor design, and radiometric modeling

    • Concepts of passive sensing

    • Algorithm design and data manipulation

    • Trade study design and analysis of alternatives

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures who represent a diversity of work and conflict resolution styles.
