Job Description Summary

We are seeking for a leader with a strong background in both design engineering and manufacturing, as well as understanding of Lean manufacturing processes, to join our team as a Senior Manager - Value Engineering. In this role, you will execute design strategies to improve customer value, enhance manufacturability, and reduce product cost. You will work closely with various departments to execute standards that ensure our products are designed for maximum value, producibility, and at the lowest cost possible. Key success criteria is the development of a pipeline of design changes with value and producibility improvements in mind.

Role Overview:
As a Value Engineering Leader, you will lead value engineering workshops and drive initiatives that maximize customer value while ensuring producibility and operational efficiency. This role will involve close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Design Engineering, Supply Chain, Sourcing, and Product Operations. You will leverage GE Aerospace’s FLIGHT DECK lean operating model to execute projects and promote lean processes. This position may require up to 25% travel and offers flexibility for remote work on a case-by-case basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead value engineering workshops, including functional analysis (FAST diagrams) and the development and implementation of detailed value improvement proposals.
  • Partner with Design Engineering, Supply Chain, Sourcing, and Product Operations to develop and implement a framework and toolkit of standards aimed at designing products that maximize customer value.
  • Execute a framework and toolkit of standards for delivering highly producible products through APQP implementation.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization, including Product Engineering, Product Leadership, Sales, and Supply Chain.
  • Execute projects leveraging FLIGHT DECK fundamentals.
  • Implement and promote lean processes to streamline operations and eliminate waste.

The ideal candidate is a results-driven leader with a strong background in design engineering, product planning, or manufacturing. They are passionate about continuous improvement, lean principles, and delivering value to customers. This individual thrives in a collaborative environment and is skilled at influencing stakeholders across all levels of the organization.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in design engineering, product planning, or manufacturing.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in design engineering, product planning, or manufacturing.
  • Certified Value Specialist Certification (CVS certified).
  • Experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Familiarity with GE Aerospace’s FLIGHT DECK lean operating model.
  • Proven ability to model GE Aerospace Behaviors (Respect for People, Continuous Improvement, Customer Driven).
  • Experience driving results via the Lean Business System, prioritizing Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and 3+ years of experience applying lean principles in manufacturing and transactional environments.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
