Your new responsibilities

ams-OSRAM group is a world leader in creating optical solutions in sensing, illumination, and visualization.  Our business unit, Opto Semiconductors, combines the manufacturing of semiconductors, converter materials, and packages.  Combining its headquarters in Regensburg (Germany), production sites in Penang (Malaysia), Kulim (Malaysia), Exeter NH (USA), Schwabmünchen (Gemany), along with R&D centers in the same locations, and a global network of sales and marketing, the company employs over 10,000 people.  Our semiconductor products include high-power LEDs in the visible range, high-performance infrared LEDs, high-quality optoelectronic detectors, and high-power semiconductor lasers, all categorized according to different brightness levels, sizes, and package formats.

 

We are seeking a highly motivated Advanced Process Development Engineer for our development team for ceramic/glass/polymer/composite materials used for LED applications.  This position will be in the Exeter, NH location, which is the center of excellence for ceramic and glass components within ams-OSRAM.  Those who join this operation will be involved with state-of-the-art materials and processes. 
 
The successful candidate will join a skilled and motivated team in advancing current capabilities, developing new processes, and implementing new technologies in production.  There will be extensive interaction between research and development, engineering, plant management, and production employees on the shop floor for the development and industrialization of new products and new processes, and for ongoing improvement of the new manufacturing processes and their efficiency.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: 

  • Design, execution, and analysis of experiments
  • Implementation of new materials and processes developed by R&D
  • Identification and assessment of new technologies
  • Qualification of new products and/or processes with customers
  • Coordination of other project team members as required 
  • Provision of training for technicians, operators and other appropriate personnel
  • Bridging interactions between the R&D group and production engineers 
     


What we look for


  • BS or MS in Engineering, preferably in Materials Science or Ceramics/Glass Engineering 
  • 5 to 10 or more years engineering experience in industry
  • Competence in 6-sigma methodologies including DOE 
  • Strong statistical analysis and problem-solving capabilities
  • Good organizational and communication skills, written and verbal
     

DESIRED EXPERIENCE: 

  • Processing and characterization of ceramics, glass, polymers, or composites
  • Experience with optical materials
  • Prior responsibility for development of new processes and transfer to production
  • Experience with high-volume production
