This person will work with the engineering, product, design, qa, and release teams to write code, and manage the team that delivers code, for the orchestration and minting of various data products. This position demands a highly technical, motivated, team leader who is both ready to engage and drive projects forward as well as dive in and help the team solve technical problems. This position balances both technical leadership and people leadership. You will lead a team of experienced software engineers and guide projects to completion on time and on budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of software engineers and work closely with the business partners to ensure that the solutions planned will meet the business objectives. Contribute code and direction to the team. Active role as a mentor to the team.
  • Develop and execute on timelines, budgets, acceptance criteria and service levels for the project with the Project Managers
  • Actively debug code and ensure solid code delivery and execution by your team.
  • Maintain and monitor existing production level application deployments.
  • Lead the application support ensuring that SLA's are met and costs are within budget.
  • Cooperatively design and document systems that can be cleanly and easily maintained by a team.
  • Be inquisitive when you don't know something, and confident when you do.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced AND relaxed startup-like environment.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • 5-7 years in data engineering or relevant engineering work.
  • Extremely data driven and detail oriented.
  • Experience working with and managing a remote development team.
  • Experience with Python, SQL, OS level scripting, docker, kubernetes, web technologies and enterprise level code deployments. Preferred candidate has experience in Adtech, web cookies, and online advertising technologies.
  • Preferred candidate with extensive Google Cloud experience (BigQuery, Dataflows, etc) as well as modern orchestration tools (Airflow and/or other cloud-native implementations)
  • Capable of managing and planning for a large number of resources. Management of geographically diverse development resources and the building of virtual project teams.
  • Demonstrates clear and effective verbal and written communication skills with all levels of staff, both business and technical.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and budgets on multiple interdependent projects without supervision.
  • Demonstrate constructive problem-solving skills and ensures that conflicts of interest/dependencies are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Ability to motivate a department of development associates and create a nurturing environment.
