The anticipated salary range for this role is between $98,000.00 and $130,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.
Role Description
JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director of Analytics and Governance in the Business Control Office, Americas Division, the Business Reporting and Analytics role will perform detailed analytics work in an independent fashion and support a broad range of tasks related to sourcing, analyzing, and interpreting data and business processes to identify and assess risks, developing and monitoring KRIs and thresholds, and building data models to measure specific risks within the organization. This role requires expertise in data analysis, data governance, data management, risk and control frameworks, and documentation and gathering of business requirements and specifications. This person will collaborate with various stakeholders and business groups within the Americas Division to understand business processes and requirements, develop and provide the needed support.
Role Objectives: Delivery
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with various stakeholders to assist in sourcing, analyzing, and interpreting data and business processes to identify, document, and assess risks and controls within the organization.
- Assist in developing and monitoring KRIs and thresholds for all SMBC Americas Division business lines according to the relevant procedures and policies.
- Assist in curating and analyzing data from various systems and sources against the existing pool of business risks and controls to identify opportunities for developing Key Risk Indicators and Key Control Indicators for effective management reporting and monitoring.
- Assist in analyzing and validating existing KRIs inventory.
- Assist with coordination, documenting, information gathering, and follow-up tasks.
- Support the team with data analysis and management, reporting, presentations, and providing demos as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
CRITICAL JOB KNOWLEDGE AND CORE COMPETENCIES/SKILLS
- 4+ years of experience in a business analysis, business management, analytics, data governance, or risk management role.
- Working knowledge of governance structures and experience interacting with management within a business environment.
- Team player with excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Self-starter with ability to hit the ground running and work independently with limited supervision.
- Good skills in Microsoft products including Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, and charts), PowerPoint (senior management-level presentation skills), and Word (business requirements and formal documentation skills).
- Problem solving skills, willingness to learn, strong sense of work ownership, strong attention to details, and ability to handle a vast array of information.
- Financial Services experience and knowledge of the banking and markets businesses and products is a plus.
- Working experience in SQL, MS Power Platform, Cognos Analytics, Alteryx or Dataiku is advantageous.
