Enterprise Platform Architect

What you will do

As an Enterprise Platform Architect, you’ll be partnering leadership across all of engineering to create a globally distributed enterprise platform. This role is both a hands-on role and a leadership role. It requires an experienced individual who both understands the big picture, but also appreciates the nuances and detail that go into building an enterprise-grade self-serve platform with a commitment to operational excellence.

The ideal candidate has deep technical knowledge of cloud architecture, developer productivity & platform experience. You will be working with and leading the SRE & Enablement architect as well as our Cloud Architect. Your goal should be to bring together a technical vision of these areas into a cohesive developer platform.

You will work with some incredibly talented and passionate developers with a solid technical background to bring products and services to a market with unique technical challenges.

Role and Responsibilities

• Design and guide teams in adoption of a platform interface focused on increasing developer velocity
• Partner closely with fellow architects to determine functional and non-functional requirements,  reliability strategies, and developer productivity
• Hands on coding of PoCs and production support during significant incidents
• Drive efficiencies in cloud spend alongside the Engineering Platform teams
• Align all areas under the Enterprise Platform domain into a cohesive technical roadmap
• Partner with all of Engineering leadership to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions and platform services consumed by development teams
• Measurably improve the cognitive load on developers by automating and shifting left fundamental necessities like security, observability, HA design and more

Skills and Qualifications

• Demonstrable expertise in AWS and scaling Kubernetes native applications (CKA, CKAD, CKS are nice to have)
• Bachelor’s Degree and 14+ years of experience in either an SRE role or a role with similar responsibilities
• Excellent ability to articulate and document a vision, gain consensus and align engineers
• Strong experience in operational excellence, SLIs, cost savings insights and visualizations
• Experience with developer platform tools and developer enablement practices
• Relevant software engineering experience with at least one language (Go, Ruby, Python, Erlang or Java)
• Understanding of microservices, distributed systems and client-server architectures
• You are eager to challenge the status quo
• Proactive mindset, addressing potential issues before they occur.
• Track record of making improvements and leading solutions that remove technical pain points and facilitate growth.
• Excellent communication skills in English is essential

Salary Range Pay Transparency: Compensation for this role, for candidates based in New York, NY is expected to be between $265,000 and $290,000.  Actual pay will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills and experience, and comparison to other employees in the role.
