About the role

The Quality Measures and Research Group at NCQA is responsible for developing, maintaining, and bringing innovations in health care quality measures. Some of the work is funded by external sources through contracts and grants and other work is funded internally by NCQA. The teams are matrixed, and the work is dynamic and updates to resource assessment and assignment changes every month.

Reporting to the VP of QMRG Administration and Planning (VPQAP), the Senior Business Associate is responsible for generating information for financial planning budgeting, forecasting, and planning processes for a department with over 110 staff. This role is critical in providing analysis and reports on staffing capacity and capability insights and guidance to the senior management team to support informed decision-making and sustainable long-term resourcing. The Senior Business Associate will also oversee financial reporting, working closely with a Contracts and Grants team for estimating potential and actual revenue and expenses, supporting compliance, regulatory requirements, and internal policies. This role will also work collaboratively with multiple project managers and division directors to routinely assess staffing capacity, expenses, and alignment with department goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Business Planning:
    • Leads the ongoing updates and adaptation of QMRG business goals and objective to align with enterprise business goals and objectives.
    • Provide the financial analysis and modeling to support QMRG business plan.
    • Collaborate with senior management to formulate long-term financial and resource plans.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
    • Lead the annual budgeting process for QMRG, working with senior management and project managers to develop detailed budgets.
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasts, adjusting as necessary to reflect business dynamics.
    • Analyze budget variances and surface risks and deviances from expected target.
  • Financial Reporting and Analysis:
    • Lead the design and development of automated reporting for QMRG business planning, leveraging the Unanet, HRI, and enterprise data warehouse capabilities
    • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, working closely with QMRG leadership and ongoing revenue, expense and forecasting.
    • Perform in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
    • Present financial performance and key insights to the senior management team.
  • Quality Assurance
    • Develop and maintain internal controls to ensure analysis and information is accurate.
    • Conduct quality assurance checks of the revenue and forecast estimates.
  • Internal Customer Service:
    • Collaborate with a team of project managers, provide timely information to senior managers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
    • Work closely with the departments for Finance and Accounting and Growth.
    • Support cross-functional teams with financial insights and guidance.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business. Master's degree preferred. 
  • 2+ years financial analysis experience in a business environment. Experience should include financial modeling, reporting, and analysis.
  • Advance knowledge of MS Windows environment, spreadsheets, and computerized accounting systems, such as Unanet.
  • Strong analytic skills, detail oriented, ability to work under pressure, deadline oriented, flexible and able to adapt to contingent environments.
  • Demonstrated experience working in complex environments with a high degree of organizational effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise appreciable latitude for independent judgment and action.

 

Compensation & Benefits:

  • For new hires, this position pays in the range of $105K - $125K per year, depending on experience.
  • This position is eligible for an annual incentive bonus, payable in accordance with policy.
