Program Therapist

A partner organization is seeking a Program Therapist for a position in Silver Spring, MD. The therapist will provide mental health treatment to patients in outpatient and off-site programs. The role requires a graduate degree and the ability to work with children and adults with mental health disorders.

Responsibilities:

• Stay up-to-date with current literature and developments in the field.
  
• Enter clinical documentation accurately and in a timely manner using electronic medical records.
• Protect client records' confidentiality in accordance with state and federal laws.
• Involve clients and their families in treatment planning and provide ongoing support and consultation.
• Provide professional and ethical therapy through individual, group, and family counseling.
• Document service notes accurately and in compliance with agency policies and procedures.
• Consult with treatment team members and other professionals to coordinate services.
• Adhere to compliance standards and stay updated on relevant regulations, laws, and policies.
• Conduct appropriate termination procedures with clients upon discharge.
• Perform other required duties and tasks.

Requirements

• Education: A graduate degree is required.
• License: Active and unrestricted licensure in Maryland as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC), or Licensed Graduate Marriage and Family Therapist (LGMFT).
• Prefer CPR/FFA Certification.
• Computer Skills: Proficiency in PC software programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is preferred.
• Age-Specific Competencies: Competence in working with children (3-18 years old) and adults (19 years old and up), including collecting and analyzing data, developing treatment plans, implementing appropriate interventions, and evaluating responses to interventions.
• EEOC Compliance: Adherence to federal and state laws regarding non-discrimination and equal opportunity employment.
• Knowledge: Familiarity with industry standards, including organization, theory, principles, and research processes. Ability to assess clinical care requirements based on psychotherapeutic and human development principles, scope of practice, and regulatory standards. Working knowledge of DSM-5 diagnoses and the ability to assess and diagnose according to DSM-5 diagnostic criteria.
• Treatment Skills: Ability to provide therapeutic treatment to assigned caseload consistent with treatment plans. Conduct effective therapy sessions using appropriate modalities.
• Communication Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills. The ability to concentrate on work amid distractions and communicate complex concepts, assessments, directions, and processes clearly.
• Professionalism: Demonstrates professionalism, self-awareness, diversity awareness, ethical behavior, and commitment to continuing education.
• Physical Demands/Working Conditions: Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including sitting, standing, walking, driving, lifting up to 25 pounds, and working in a fast-paced environment with potential for stressful situations. Willingness to work evenings as required.
