Job Purpose

The Production Manager will manage day-to-day operations for Sumter Metal Products.  This position is responsible for on-time delivery, labor efficiency, process flow, scheduling, and SAP transactions needed to ensure we meet the needs of our customers.  The Production Manager will report directly to the Plant Manager and will work to ensure Sumter remains productive and that our employees have a safe working environment

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:  Other duties may be assigned.

• Work with Planning/Engineering to interpret production needs and implement a schedule to drive on-time delivery.

• Complies with safety and environmental regulations as outlined by local, state and federal regulations. 

• Safety is top priority.  The Production Manager should always encourage heightened awareness around safety and housekeeping.

• Ensure SAP transactions are timely and accurate.

• Represent the Company in a professional way in all dealings in the work place and community. 

• Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed, including special projects, and other duties as assigned.

• Work with EOS Manager to drive LEAN initiatives and effect a cultural transformation around eliminating waste.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:   

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, and/or 5 years’ experience within a metal fabrication facility.

Minimum of 10 years manufacturing experience  

     KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

 

• Comprehensive product knowledge, the ability to read and interpret prints and drawings.
• Ability to communicate (orally and written) in a professional manner when dealing with employees, vendors and customers.
• Competent computer skills to perform essential functions.
• SAP competence and navigation skills
• Acute awareness of our Quality Systems
• Active involvement in our Safety Program
• Champion our EOS efforts

 

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Production Supervisors will report directly to the Production Manager. 
• Production Administrative Assistant will report directly to the Production Manager.
