Job Description

The role is part of the enterprise global networks & telecommunications function, and responsible for the global implementation, operation of all voice, data and network related services for O-I administrative and manufacturing functions. The services include but are not limited to the Local Area Networks, Wide Area Network, routers/switches, Wireless Network, video conference systems and voice systems at every O-I site around the world.

Provides mainly a support function to all global projects such as: network tech refreshes, devices lifecycle management and new solutions requested by the business. This role is also supporting all activities managed by the Seniors.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

General

  • Collaborating with other global IT operational support groups, both locally and globally
  • Maintaining awareness and commitment to employment and legislative responsibilities in relation to workplace safety, discrimination, HR policies, quality and the environment

Specific

  • Implementing and maintaining the enterprise-level network infrastructures to support business and technical functions of O-I
  • Assisting in the design and implementation of interfaces to non-O-I enterprise network infrastructures, as they relate to connection of the enterprise network infrastructure to, or close collaboration with affiliates, customers, licensees or suppliers
  • Monitoring the daily operations of plant and local network infrastructures
  • Assisting in standards and procedures development for installation and troubleshooting of critical systems
  • Providing 1st and 2nd tier support for local, domestic and international data network facilities
  • Acting as liaison between Networks and Telecommunications and its clients (internal and external)
  • Deploying standards for service level agreements with vendors with respect to network infrastructures, as directed
  • Managing cabling vendor MACs, service and project trips performed at OI facilities
  • As part of the global team, assisting in developing and testing network solutions for future networking demands in office and production environments
  • Maintaining current technical expertise in the rapidly changing enterprise networking, infrastructure and communications disciplines
  • Providing technical expertise and guidance in properly assessing business requirements and issues with regards to access to LAN/WAN/WLAN/VOIP services
  • Managing Remote Access solution  for Enterprise Network, Users/ VPN to warehouses
  • Maintaining documentation to support Global Standards
  • Managing and supporting external facilities connecting via VPN
  • Responsibility for maintaining and supporting of technical infrastructure on a 24/7/365 basis
  • Managing O-I’s enterprise routers/switches, voice and video systems and wireless services
  • Leading network infrastructure projects (tech refreshes, lifecycle management)

SCOPE AND IMPACT

The enterprise network and telecommunications infrastructure is the foundation from which all enterprise information systems, manufacturing and engineering activities operate. It is absolutely critical to the enterprise that the network infrastructure and communication systems offer the highest levels of security, availability, manageability, predictability, scalability and recoverability (quality of service). This position also needs to foster a close working relationship with RD&E and international groups to achieve homogenous network infrastructure designs that are secure, manageable, predictable, scalable, and robust.  This position is challenged to supply a secured LAN/WAN/WLAN/VOIP network as it relates to switches, routers, wireless controllers, voice gateways for the infrastructure, conforming to policies and SOPs.
