Underwriting Associate

We are seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated Underwriting Associate I to join our team. In this foundational role, you will play a key part in managing and maintaining employee benefits data, performing quality assurance reviews, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy and consistency in the coverage build process. While experience in group insurance or medical insurance is preferred, it is not required—we value a willingness to learn and a strong analytical mindset.

About the role

Data Management & Entry

• Accurately input, organize, and maintain employee benefits data in internal systems.
• Ensure all data meets required standards and is complete.
• Send a high volume of emails to customers requesting necessary data and documentation.
• Track and manage email responses, ensuring timely follow-ups and resolution of outstanding items.
• Maintain detailed and organized records of communications and follow-up activities.

Quality Assurance (QA)

• Review and interpret insurance policies and related documentation, including complex terms and conditions.
• Normalize and standardize policy content to ensure consistency and clarity across all data.
• Perform QA reviews to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and alignment with company requirements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work effectively in a remote environment while coordinating with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and meet deadlines.
• Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on processes and objectives.

About you

• Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
• Experience: Knowledge of group insurance and/or medical insurance preferred but not required.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret and work with complex data.
• Self-starter who takes initiative and proactively seeks solutions and/or offers support.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a remote environment.
• Adaptable and eager to learn new processes and tools.
• Highly organized with strong time management skills.
