Compensation: $170,000 to $190,000

Position Summary:

The Managing Director, People & Culture (MD) is responsible for strategically driving and enhancing all organizational functions related to people and culture across Corus. As a member of Corus' management team, this person will partner with the Chief People & Culture Officer to develop and execute organization-wide HR strategies with a particular focus on maximizing organizational effectiveness through excellent people and culture management. The MD will prioritize providing high-level HR counsel and technical expertise to country office leaders, including program business unit (PBU) managing directors and country directors. This role manages a small team of HR Business Partners (HRBPs) on the successful delivery and implementation of global HR programs, initiatives and policies.

The successful incumbent will possess strategic human resources expertise, particularly operating in a global organization with staff in Africa; proven senior leadership capabilities; the ability to lead the development and implementation of global people and culture initiatives; change management acumen; exceptional communication and collaboration skills across diverse cultures; a deep understanding of power dynamics inherent in geographically/culturally diverse organizations; and a strong people-first orientation.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Global HR Leadership

  • Work closely with the CPCO to articulate a vision for excellence and develop a people and culture strategy that drives the global team's priorities, in alignment with the organization's needs.
  • In collaboration with senior leaders, oversee the strategic development and implementation of people and culture programs that drive organizational effectiveness, in particular for country offices; lend expertise to GHR leadership team members on people and culture initiatives within their centers of excellence.
  • Ensure people and culture programs and initiatives are relevant to a global workforce; advocate for the specific needs of country offices and non-US staff.
  • Lead and direct a team of HRBPs to ensure alignment with the GHR operating model and exceptional service delivery across assigned business units.

Talent Management

  • Prepare and design workforce planning strategies that align with the fulfillment of Corus' organizational strategy and priorities.
  • Work with Sr Director, HR operations to design innovative compensation and benefits strategies for attracting and retaining diverse talent in a competitive labor market; serve as a thought partner in addressing country office challenges specific to their market (currency valuation, taxation, compliance, etc.).
  • Engage with global talent & acquisition team and HRBPs on the development and implementation of successful recruitment strategies to attract and retain top talent.
  • Promote effective performance management across the organization; manage and resolve complex employee relations issues in-country; conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations involving senior management, in consult with in-house general counsel or external counsel as needed.
