Job Summary:  

A Systems Analyst I develop systems designs, specifications and procedures. The work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities.

Incumbents receive general supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class may be required to work shifts, weekends and holidays. Work is performed in an office where working conditions are normal. The work requires minimal physical exertion.

Minimum Qualifications:                             

On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must:  

Education: Have a bachelor's degree in electronic data processing or computer science from an accredited college or university. 

AND 

Experience: Have four years of experience in preparing programs for computers including two years in systems design.

OR 

Equivalency Notes: Have an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 

• Knowledge of the principles and practices of systems analysis and design.
• Knowledge of the interrelationship of systems analysis, computer programming and data processing operations.
• Ability to design complex systems consisting of a wide variety of programs, procedures and forms.
• Ability to analyze the cost of systems installation and maintenance and to make recommendations.
• Ability to prepare systems forms, documents, files, specifications, instructions and procedures.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with associates and computer users.
• Ability to advise and provide direction and guidance to others on systems design and computer programming.

Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint must be successfully completed. 

Probation 

All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory six-month probation.

Eligibility 

Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.                                                             

Education Accreditation
