Position Summary:
The Senior Mechanical Engineer works independently to provide mechanical engineering and design services in the R&D engineering group. Develops concepts, designs and details for capital equipment, consumable devices, tools, fixtures, and products.  Contribute independently to the completion of projects and goals with supervision.
Works collaboratively with other cross-function teams in supporting project plans. May work on projects involving more than one engineering discipline and involving engineering teams from other functional areas. Leads small sized projects.

Responsibilities:
•    Develop robust and stable mechanical systems for medical devices, with simulation data for the proof of design optimization.
•    Performs simulated testing for design verification and test method developments.
•    Creates and edits engineering technical reports, work instructions and method and process validation related documents.
•    Performs FEA (FEM, CFD) for troubleshooting or analyzing/verifying the design.
•    Inspects the testing of prototypes, tools, and fixtures after fabrication to ensure that they meet specifications.
•    Hands-on experience in tolerance analysis and GD&T
•    Collaborate with engineers in electrical, firmware, software, test, and other fields to build innovative solutions and ensure requirements and specifications are met
•    Possess capability in design methodologies related to DFx (design for reliability, manufacturability, Serviceability etc.)


Qualifications:
Required
•    BS degree in Mechanical Engineering required
•    5 years of mechanical design experience
•    A minimum of 3 years of R&D experience in devices/systems
•    Knowledge and experience in CAD software such as SolidWorks and PDM
Preferred:
•    Master’s or Ph.D. Degree in Mechanical Engineering 
•    A minimum of 1 years’ experience in optical systems design.
•    Basic understanding in optical application.
•    Broad understanding of medical devices/instrumentation used in ophthalmology.
•    Hands-on knowledge of FEA software (ANSYS, COMSOL)
•    Work on problems of complex scope and demonstrate systematic/analytical problem-solving skills
•    Interact well with diverse groups within engineering and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators.
•    Good communication skills orally, in writing, and in presentations.
