Overall Function:
The clinical quality improvement coordinator oversees the agency’s clinical records program in regards to quality and consistency and ensures compliance with contract and licensing requirements (DCFS, Probation, Department of Mental Health and Community Care Licensing) with a special focus on outcome measures. This position works closely with the chief administrative officer, the chief program officer, the electronic health records coordinator and program directors to support program staff in their day- to-day responsibilities related to documentation. This position is an essential support to the chief administrative officer in the maintenance of accreditation and the agency’s quality improvement program and an active member of the diversity, equity and inclusion committee and supports the agency’s efforts to maintain the seal of ACAF.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitors clinical charting as required by the department of mental health and does ongoing quality control of documentation not only of clinical documentation but also as required by DCFS and Probation (needs and services plan, education and medical) with the support of the administrative assistants and the clinical records specialist.
- Monitors and assists with resolution of billing problems/conflicts. Coordinates with the electronic health records coordinator and the mental health billing specialist.
- Coordinates clinical training for mental health staff and works closely with all program directors to ensure training compliance agency wide.
- Coordinates clinical training of motivational interviewing and evidence-based practices and ensures ongoing certification/re-certification to ensure compliance with DMH and practice model developer requirements agency wide.
- Attends internal and external stakeholder meetings, as assigned and reports back to the chief administrative and chief program officer as needed. Meetings include but are not limited to: Children’s Mental Health Policy committee (ACHSA), Countywide DMH Provider meeting, County wide QA/QI webinar etc., LA County Probation Provider meeting, CCL provider meetings etc.)
- Coordinates the quarterly peer reviews for all programs and utilizes that as a training opportunity and an opportunity for improvement. This includes requesting corrective action plans from the program managers and ensuring follow through.
- Works closely together with the chief administrative officer and the program managers regarding MediCal re-certifications, mental health program approvals, Probation and DCFS audits agency wide.
- Implements and tracks the WERC survey and provides reports to the program directors and uses them as teaching tools as well.
- Oversees the DMH system data entries to ensure data entry is done accurately and timely.
- Prepares quarterly reports per supervisor request on outcomes measure, clients served, and other data for programs as well as for administration.
- Works closely together with program managers to ensure maintenance of internal/external forms, policies and procedures for LA Mental Health Programs. Coordinates dissemination and use of updated materials.
- Assists the chief administrative officer in maintaining accreditation.
- Oversees the maintenance of the seal of ACAF.
- Acts as active member of the diversity, equity and inclusion committee.
- Attends and participates in required training.

Qualifications
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Marriage and Family Therapist registered with the BBS,
- Experience working in a mental health and residential setting preferred.
