Your Role

We are looking for an experienced optical designer to join our cinematography lens development team. Your work will include advanced optical design of rotationally symmetric and anamorphic lenses, tolerancing and tuning designs for manufacturability together with lens suppliers. In addition, your work will create new business opportunities for ZEISS digital products for the VFX industry by providing lens data and supporting virtual prototyping and image simulation. You will build a network both within ZEISS and with external partners that will help us leverage the latest technological advances to meet tomorrow's challenges and maintain brand leadership in the cine lens and VFX industry.

Your Profile

• a PhD or master’s degree in physics, mathematics or optical engineering and proven experience in the optical industry

• Strong knowledge of physical and technical optics

• Familiarity with optical design software (e.g. Zemax, Optics Studio, Code V) and proven experience with optical designs for complex polychromatic lenses including multiple lens elements and aspheres

• The vision and hands-on approach to bring your ideas to life in ZEISS cinematography products, as well as strong communication skills in English

• A strong and proven background in Python or Matlab to support our products in the growing VFX industry
