POSITION SUMMARY:
At Heart of LA, our work hinges on data-driven insights that inform programming, development, finance, and HR. The Part-Time Data Analyst will oversee core data systems, ensure reporting accuracy, and support program evaluation efforts.
This role will focus on maintaining and optimizing existing systems, producing essential reports, supporting compliance, and collaborating across departments to strengthen data-driven decision-making.
Flexible weekday schedule to be determined with supervisor; limited evening or weekend availability as needed for major reporting deadlines; hybrid schedule (must be approved by supervisor). *Please note that Heart of LA reserves the right to adjust schedules as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Data Management & System Oversight
Maintain and optimize the organization’s database and data collection systems.
Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integration across departments.
Uphold data governance and confidentiality standards.
Implement targeted system improvements aligned with organizational priorities.
Program Data Support
Oversee accurate and timely data submission across program departments.
Coordinate integration of program data into central databases.
Collaborate with program managers to improve workflows and resolve data issues.
Assist with analyzing program data to support continuous improvement.
Analysis & Reporting
Produce recurring organizational impact, compliance, and performance reports.
Develop dashboards and custom reports for leadership and department heads.
Provide accurate data for grant reporting, audits, and donor communications.
Conduct focused analyses tied to strategic initiatives and board reporting.
Cross Departmental Collaboration
Partner with Development, Programs, Finance, and HR to maintain standardized reporting systems.
Provide staff training and support to strengthen internal data literacy.
Serve as primary data liaison across departments.
Compliance & Ethical Data Use
Ensure data practices align with privacy laws and ethical standards, particularly regarding the handling of youth data.
Monitor data security practices and escalate concerns as needed.
QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS | TRAITS AND CHARACTERISTICS DESIRED:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience required.
1–3 years of experience in data management or a related role.
Familiarity with client/case management databases (e.g., Apricot 360, Salesforce).
Experience with data cleaning, reporting, and analysis in Excel or Google Sheets.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to manage priorities effectively within a 25-hour work week.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
Commitment to the organizational mission and sensitivity to underserved youth.
Must pass CA DOJ background check.
