Job Description – Director, Testing and Commissioning – Substations
General Description
This position is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and overseeing testing and commissioning activities that are performed by Quanta OpU’s or 3rd Party firms. The Testing and Commissioning Director will provide expertise and technical support throughout the project lifecycle and support field operations, customer account management, procurement, and key stakeholder groups within Quanta. It will report to the Vice President, Operations. This role involves managing a team of professionals, coordinating with various stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Duties
- Lead and manage the testing and commissioning team, providing guidance, training, and support.
- Develop and implement comprehensive testing and commissioning plans for projects.
- Oversee the preparation of test procedures, schedules, and reports.
- Conduct site inspections and witness testing and commissioning activities.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and client requirements.
- Identify and resolve any issues or discrepancies that arise during the testing and commissioning process.
- Provide technical expertise and support to the team and clients.
- Continuously improve testing and commissioning processes and methodologies.
- Strategically collaborate with operational leadership on technical goals.
- Monitor and deliver on project milestones and manage the performance of testing and commissioning service providers.
- Develop and implement controls and quality assurance standards.
- Responsible for managing staffing initiatives and planning for resource needs to support customer growth.
- Lead, mentor, and oversee training strategy for staff.
- Manage departmental budget and act as oversight on project budgets as required.
- Collaborate with operational leaders on proposals and planning to support new projects and initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience and Education
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum of [10] years of experience in testing and commissioning, with prior experience either in a testing and commissioning role or within a power utility division.
- Strong knowledge of testing and commissioning standards, practices, and procedures. (NETA, IEEE, etc.)
- Excellent business acumen and experience managing departmental budgets.
