Summary
The Director of Energy Marketing and Trading provides leadership over Fuel Supply and Trading, Short-Term Trading, and Real-Time Power Trading departments and is responsible for overseeing and managing the company's energy trading activities, fuel procurement, and market participation/implementation. This role involves developing and executing trading strategies, ensuring compliance with trading and risk management policies, optimizing the company's generation assets within regional markets, and fuel procurement.
What You'll Do
- Direct the daily trading activities, coordinating with the trading teams, TGO, plant personnel, and operations staff.
- Develop strategies for generation dispatch, power purchases, and wholesale sales opportunities.
- Direct evaluation of scenarios to minimize power supply risk and uncertainties.
- Lead strategic planning activities for fuel procurement and transportation for natural gas and coal aligning with corporate hedging strategies.
- Ensures the financial results from trading activities accurately reflect cost minimization and asset optimization decisions.
- Provide guidance on market implementation activities and change management.
- Ensure compliance with trading policies and regulatory requirements (WECC,NERC, FERC).
- Participate in the Risk Oversight Committee.
- Participate in corporate short and long-range goal setting and strategic business planning.
- Align across trading departments to meet corporate objectives.
- Foster a collaborative, team-oriented environment focused on coaching and development.
- Build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
What It Takes To Succeed
- Provide strategic leadership to the Fuel Supply and Trading, Short-Term Trading, and Real-Time Power Trading departments.
- Proven ability to work under pressure while maintaining poise.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and public speaking skills, especially with executive management, SRP’s Board, state regulators, regional market operators,and customers.
- Knowledge of economic operation of power systems, commodity trading concepts, and SRP's contractual relationship with other energy market players.
- Ability to influence and lead across all organizational levels.
- Experience with corporate financial report
