Education

• High School Graduate or Equivalent
• Health-related education, experience, or certification

Experience / Qualifications

• American Heart Association BLS, for Health Care Provider
• Operating Room experience required

Position Summary

The Lead Surgical Support Technician aids in the facilitation of patient care by working concurrently with the surgical support techs, OR staff, anesthesiologists, Surgeons, and all support staff. 

• Cleaning and troubleshooting surgical equipment.
• Operating room turnovers and terminal cleaning
• Surgical positioning of the patient under the direction of the OR team
• Preparing and assisting with patient transport
• Acquiring needed surgical equipment prior to the beginning of cases, as per each surgeon and case preference
• Assisting with the setup of equipment in the operating room suite
• Assisting the anesthesia provider in patient procedures
• Moving and transferring of patients
• Communicates effectively with all levels of clinical staff (surgeon, anesthesia, nursing staff, and ancillary staff)

• Safely prepares and plans for the transport of post-surgical patients.
• Effectively and promptly communicates and responds.
• Safe transport and setup of various surgical gases (nitrogen, oxygen, CO2, etc.)
• Basic understanding of surgical procedures and processes, along with types of equipment used for each procedure, as per the preference of the surgeon.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
