I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Distributes and monitors the flow of work for an assigned group of employees. Provides training and technical assistance to employees within the assigned work area. Assists director in assuring that assigned employees are provided with appropriate resources, materials, and methods. Provides recommendations to director for the most efficient utilization of assigned personnel. Relays work instruction from the director.
2. Performs clinical care, including patient evaluation, treatment, discharge planning (inpatient only) and interdisciplinary care coordination in assigned area. Completes clinical documentation and other activities as described in staff job descriptions.
3. Assists director in identifying opportunities for improvement in area and participates in Performance Improvement teams. Acts as team leader, facilitator or member for own clinical areas and interdisciplinary initiatives as assigned.
4. Assures that own clinical area complies with departmental policies and meets accreditation, regulatory and quality standards for clinical care delivery and documentation. Assists in implementation of policies and procedures to assure consistent practice in own clinical area.
5. Assists manager in coordination of student program for assigned area. Assigns student supervisors and acts as resource for student supervision needs.
6. Participates in performance improvement initiatives.
7. Demonstrated ability to supervise staff and students. Ability to manage multiple tasks.
8. Act as a liaison between the Clinical Nutrition Department and Food and Nutrition Department.

2. Attends variety of meetings, conferences, seminars as required or directed.

II. Position Qualifications:
License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. Bachelor’s Degree from Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) approved four-year program in Food and Nutrition or related field.
2. Current registration with Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), the credentialing agency of the AND.
3. Massachusetts state license (LDN).
Preferred:
1. Master’s Degree in Nutrition, Science, Business or related field.
Experience/Skills:
Required:
1. 3 years clinical experience in related area.
2. Demonstrated leadership skills.
3. Ability to influence the quality of patient care, in an advisory capacity to the physician and other health care team members.
4. Demonstrated skill in analyzing problems and making decisions.
5. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
