About This RoleAs part of Intersect’s Operations team, you’ll help build and manage our compliance programs to meet NERC, PUC, and ISO standards, with a focus on developing and implementing Intersect’s NERC CIP Medium Impact program. You’ll play a key role in guiding projects through compliance from development into operations—monitoring requirements, leading program implementation, and ensuring ongoing adherence to regulatory obligations. Working closely with IT, Operational Technology, Engineering, Legal, and cross-functional partners, you’ll provide strategic insights on upcoming requirements, manage evidence and reporting, and build strong relationships with regulators and internal stakeholders alike. This role ensures our growing fleet of clean energy projects remains reliable, secure, and fully compliant.
Team OverviewThe Operations team ensures Intersect’s fleet of renewable energy assets is operated to the highest standards. With deep expertise across operations, asset management, and compliance—and more than 4 GW of operational experience—the team partners closely with Development and Construction to bring projects from concept through operations. As our fleet rapidly expands, the team is scaling to support compliance, performance, and reliability across a diverse and growing portfolio. Joining this team means helping deliver clean energy projects that meet the strictest operational and regulatory standards while contributing to Intersect’s long-term growth.
What You’ll Do
Lead Compliance Program Development • Serve as the primary project manager for developing and implementing Intersect’s NERC CIP Medium Impact program • Manage day-to-day compliance activities across NERC, PUC, ISO, and other applicable standards • Design and oversee internal controls, risk analyses, procedures, and evidence management to ensure program effectiveness
Manage Compliance Operations • Track and interpret new or updated regulatory requirements, communicating impacts across the organization • Partner with subject matter experts during implementation of new standards and requirements • Coordinate regulatory filings, working with internal experts, outside counsel, and consultants as needed
Ensure Oversight and Accountability • Lead internal assessments to evaluate compliance, document potential noncompliance issues, and manage corrective actions and mitigation plans • Provide oversight for evidence documentation and controls verification in line with industry best practices • Support compliance onboarding for new solar projects during construction phases
Build Relationships and Industry Presence • Cultivate positive relationships with regulators, third-party service providers, and internal teams • Actively participate in industry organizations, workshops, and forums to stay ahead of evolving standards and best practices • Serve as a trusted partner across functions by providing guidance, clear communication, and project management support on compliance-related efforts
What You’ll Bring • A bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related discipline—or equivalent experience • 5+ years of experience in NERC compliance and the electric regulatory industry, such as roles in engineering, compliance departments, or regulatory agencies • Familiarity with NERC CIP Medium Impact Reliability Standards, ERCOT, and CAISO requirements • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously • Excellent organizational skills, with high attention to detail in documentation and reporting • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex requirements to varied audiences • Collaborative approach with the ability to partner effectively across cross-functional teams • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, remote-first environment
