None/Not RequiredWe are looking for a Systems Engineer with a passion for engineering, a high degree of accountability and an ability to thrive in an Agile team environment as a part of the Advanced Platform Systems Team in the Military Avionics engineering organization.
We bring civilian avionics technologies to military and special mission customers around the globe. We are a department of Systems Engineers and Project Engineers based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Our Systems Engineers typically have a background as a pilot, a degree in Aerospace or other Engineering disciplines, or avionics industry experience in software or hardware development.
We architect, integrate, and verify avionics solutions that can perform in both civilian and special mission capacities. We work directly with customers around the globe to find solutions that fit their unique needs. The Mil-Civil Platform Systems Department can deliver ARP-4754A/DO-178B civil certified solutions. We provide systems engineering through all phases of product development including program pursuit and capture, requirements capture and analysis, system architecture design, requirements development, allocation and traceability, system / subsystem integration, system verification, system validation, and life-cycle product support.

What You Will Do:
Determines full avionics system requirements for avionics systems;
Develops system design documentation such as interface control definitions, hardware interconnect definitions, and human machine interface documentation
Develops and executes verification procedures for laboratory testing of avionics
Ensures compliance to applicable certification regulations
Ability to travel required, but this would be less than 10% of time.
What You Will Learn:
Through day to day responsibilities and intentional mentoring, you will develop the following skills:
Planning and tracking work in engineering tools (Jira, Confluence, JAMA, etc.)
Ability to write requirements, develop design documentation, and verify requirements
Ability to work collaboratively with large multi-disciplinary engineering teams
Qualifications You Must Have:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree and 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer:
Past aviation experience (such as being a pilot or aircraft maintainer)
Personal project experience related to building or working with complex systems
Experience with technical writing such as undergraduate research papers.
Previous project leadership and communication/coordination roles.
