Job Description

MAJOR JOB OBJECTIVES

Develops and implements master production schedules based on customer shipping schedules/forecasts as reflected in the company ERP system, ensuring maximum utilization of available production capacity and providing prioritization of customer delivery requirements.  Coordinates efforts with related functions of material and production planning and sales and marketing areas to provide schedules for the timely, efficient, and cost‑effective manufacture of quality products.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare detailed production schedules in the ERP system for assigned product lines, and monitor their status, up through delivery to customers, ensuring the maximized utilization of production capacity (both labor and equipment). 
  • Participate in the development of material procurement and production build plans in support of the master schedules utilizing the ERP system
  • Develop, enter, and maintain approved forecasts in the ERP system in accordance with customer forecasted demand and/or internal company-generated forecasts
  • Maintain the Master Delivery Schedule and associated Master Production Schedule in the ERP system using the orders, production schedules, and forecasts that are loaded
  • Participate in Configuration Control Board activity, review proposed engineering changes, provide information regarding Work In Process (WIP) status and suggest changes to the manufacturing floor as required
  • Coordinate the efficient movement of materials with purchasing, inventory, production and engineering
  • Prepare and distribute required daily/weekly/monthly reports and communicate status during required meetings. 
  • Attend meetings with customers and/or suppliers as applicable
  • Lead cross functional meetings regarding schedule and delivery as required
  • Interface with manufacturing supervision to include regularly scheduled production meetings: furnish material status, address schedule concerns, establish manufacturing priorities, review open backlog, discuss pending changes, and obtain committed delivery dates.
  • Monitor and update changes to production plans and master schedules, to include the maintenance of product forecasts if applicable
  • Update and maintain item data, order modifiers, and planning parameters in ERP System. 
  • Communicate with Customer Service and Project/Product teams regarding production status and potential impact or changes to committed customer deliveries, updating the scheduled delivery dates on open sales orders as required.
  • Provide guidance and/or direction to less senior planning personnel as required, to include direct supervisory responsibilities as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain or technical discipline or equivalent experience.  
  • Professional Certification (e.g. CPIM, CSCP) (preferred)  
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a master scheduling or planning role in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a regulated industry
  • Experience with ERP/WMS systems required.
  • Experience working with forecasts.
  • Experience with the Sales and Operations Planning process.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite – Excel in particular.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in day-to-day responsibilities
  • Excellent communication skills – written & verbal
  • Ability to multitask and manage projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to analyze and define problems and resolve them in a timely manner.
  • Ability to respond appropriately in pressure situations.
