The Branded Sales Manager will be responsible for growing the market share and profitability of the Seed & Technology business within the assigned territory in the Texas Panhandle. In this position, you are expected to create demand for Advanta Seed products with distributors, dealers, and growers. As the Territory Sales Manager, you will leverage your skills and experience to drive market share growth, participate as a team leader, collaborating with your peers to expand our sales, agronomic, and account management expertise. This role will report to the Sales and Marketing Director.
The primary responsibilities of the Branded Sales Manager are to:
- Achieve assigned targets with Advanta products (seed and traits) in coordination with your peers.
- Build and maintain a broad network within the territory to identify new sales leads.
- Develop and implement territory business plans, proactively manage forecasting, inventory, allocations, and return management. Set the area business direction, and coordinate follow-ups with distributors and dealers.
- Serve as the key business consultant to distributors, dealers, and large growers to effectively sell the value of Advanta products.
- Demonstrate proof of product performance against the competition by championing Advanta brands and products as well as technical and agronomic knowledge.
- Collaborate with other Territory Sales Managers/Representatives, Marketing, and Technology Development to maximize services, information, and sales to distributors, dealers, and key grower accounts.
- Manage inventory concerns as appropriate to ensure success of meeting business objectives.
- Gather, aggregate, and analyze market and competitive information and utilize data to make key decisions to drive the business.
- Effectively manage expenses, discretionary resources, and programs.
- Show initiative in expanding selling skills and product/portfolio knowledge.
- Act as the business expert for distributors, dealers, and key growers, while planning for customer business needs.
- Manage area claims through effective problem solving, execution, administration, and resource management.
- Travel approximately 60% (primarily day travel in the assigned geography).
Required qualifications:
- Substantial experience in sales, marketing, account management or production agriculture.
- Excellent communication skills (interpersonal, oral, and written).
- Demonstrated initiative, assertiveness, and ability to drive results.
- Strong business acumen, account planning, influencing and critical thinking skills.
- Financial, time, and territory management proficiency.
- Proven ability to multi-task in a rapid-paced and matrixed environment.
- Strong level of computer and presentation skills (proficiencies in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
