Your Career

This position will be responsible for administrating, maintaining, and deploying the IT Infrastructure for Unit 42 Global Security Consulting. This infrastructure is a special subset of the greater Palo Alto Networks IT infrastructure, and is focused on delivering specialized compute, network, storage, and security for Unit 42 Client Engagements. Multiple domains of technical knowledge and abilities are required, as well as interpersonal skills for internal customer and team collaboration.

To thrive in this position, you must be a self-starter and be able to work both independently and as a teammate. Additionally, you must be a problem solver with excellent critical thinking and communication skills.

This position may require after hours or weekends to complete scheduled maintenance or emergency work.

Your Impact

  • Subject matter export for multiple areas of IT practice such as: operating system management, internal networking (Layer 2, Layer 3), virtualization, asset and hardware management, and IT Infrastructure related platforms
  • Support IT infrastructure, hardware, and software including - planning, design, deployment, configuration, maintenance, patching, monitoring, data protection, lifecycle management, and reliable day-to-day operations
  • Provides technical support for issues or outages based on priority - Addresses root cause to ensure issue or outage is not repeated
  • Collaborates with internal customers to resolve issues and requests - Drives resolution of issues as champion to our internal customers - Identifies and improves areas of weaknesses in IT Infrastructure or process
  • Performs routine IT processes, workflows, and standard operating procedures not limited to account and permissions management
  • Works on projects as a technical resource or owner, contributing to the continuous improvement and deployment of Unit 42’s IT Infrastructure
  • Maintains the Unit 42 IT monitoring and alerting system - If found, correct gaps in platform
  • Proactively monitors Unit 42’s IT Infrastructure for issues or anomalies, investigating or resolving issues based on priority
  • Protects the Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability of Unit 42’s IT infrastructure using technical best practices, knowledge of hardening or security controls, and a “secure by design” approach
  • Ensures the data protection of Unit 42’s IT Infrastructure is in place by maintaining an enterprise level backup, replication, and recovery system - Tests failover scenarios on a scheduled basis
  • Centrally documents any and all relevant IT Infrastructure information
  • Seeks and applies automation opportunities wherever possible
  • Reports pertinent information and statistics to leadership in order to identify common problems and suggested areas where technology, training, documentation, or processes can be improved
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Your Experience

  • 4+ years of enterprise system or network infrastructure required
  • Expertise in server level operating systems such as Windows server - Linux server experience is highly desired
  • Expertise in implementing and supporting Microsoft Windows technology, such as Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, LAPS, etc.
  • Expertise in various virtualization platforms - VMware preferred (vSphere, ESXi vSAN)
  • Working knowledge Networking including - Layer 2, Layer 3, Firewalls (PANW NGFW is a plus)
  • Working knowledge of storage systems (SAN, NAS, DAS) and protocols (iSCSI, NFS, Fiber Channel, CIFS, SMB, etc)
  • Working knowledge of RBAC based permission
